Re: Using pi as a keyless ignition for a motorcycle.

The next question I would have is would the Pi drain a motorcycle battery significantly? So much that a week in the garage would keep it from starting? I suppose you could make the Pi shut down if the bike sat unused for more than a day. I wouldn't worry about some one hacking a unique fob from a on...

Re: Deluge download speed drops down

Have you tried the torrent on a PC, or any other device? Do you know if your isp blocks or throttles torrents? Have you tried to use an ethernet cable? Have you tried overclocking? I don't torrent with a Pi so I'm really just guessing. There are many variables with torrents that could make a device ...

Next is the model ab++ and the turbo laser shark edition. After that I think the gold plated compute module follows. Then you may see something new

Not really, getting Windows on our Pi is not most of our priories. Most of us take the easy path... Raspbian. Maybe Ric will log in soon and help you.

Re: Model A sold "only" 100,000 units - a flop ?

[...] a Model A+ could be run on less than 5v input. Possibly as low as 3.5v. According to my reading of the datasheets, the power supply drop-out on the RPi Plus models is dominated by the resistance of the regulator's P-MOSFET (0.28 Ohms). The older Model-A draws 150mA under load, so we can expec...

Re: Model A sold "only" 100,000 units - a flop ?

It more a question of timing all the announcements. Lots of press releases and interviews get planned, and then someone releases early and buggers up the whole process. That's the issue - not sales impact. Someone is still going to get an arse kicking and deservedly so since this is not the first t...

Alright enough already. These threads are popping up too often to be coincidence. The posts aren't contributing to the thread other than to bump it. Just because this software is "free" doesn't mean it doesn't have malware or anything else and the more people are pushing this software the more suspi...

Re: How much voltage ripple is too much?

The B+ has a pretty nice regulation circuit. I've never gotten a Pi stable with "Turbo" mode even with a iPad charger. None of the overclock settings are guaranteed, that being said I haven't seen one that wouldn't work on "high". I suppose you will have to see if an engineer can answer the question...

There are GPIO drivers to use it as a KB.

Over voltage 8 is the cap without hardware mods. Few have done hardware mods for extreme overclocking. You will be on your own for the most part.

I'm guessing your over clocks are too aggressive and are causing errors. Your config is quite extreme. But other than that I don't know.

Re: Video playback

To be more precise , the file suffix does not tell you at all if you need to buy the MPEG-2 license or not. You need a tool like MediaInfo to look into the so called AVI/MKV container to know which codec has been used. If the codec is listed for sale , you need to buy it to play the file in questio...

I've never seen that happen. When I used to play with XBMC my pi was always over clocked and it still played video.

Does this happen with any over clock no matter how small?

Re: Overvolting question

I don't know what your asking about h264, but the CPU and video block have different clocks. So if you are watching a video and doing nothing else then the CPU will drop to 700mhz like it always does when the ARM core is mostly idle.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "use" is. If you have enough sticks of ram you could build a case for your Pi.

The original model B only had 256MB. This was changed within the first year of production to 512 MB. I have one and for most cases it is just as fast as the 512. Overclocking will generally bring you the greatest speed up.
