Re: The Final Countdown

Bidding for #1 might be a good way to drum up some press and extra money for the cause.

Re: Will the Raspberry Pi use any non-free software?

<t>I guess your definition of free = open source. To me something is free if it dosn\'t cost me any money. The truth is we are talking about a $25 computer here. Do you want them to deliver a hot meal and a naked women with it as well?<br/> <br/> As far as I can see the RPi does not come with an OS,...

Re: How would you use a Raspberry Pi device?

<t>I would like to come up with a stripped (maybe embeded os) and a set of APIs to make a nice little retro console project that is easy to program for. I was also thinking, of a cool touch screen tablet idea ( but that would all depend on the cost of touch screens) at 2W it may be doable? How about...

Re: Wishes for 2nd gen Raspberry Pi

<t>They will get there. The price of components will go down over time, and the feature set will increase. I'm not sure its wise to change a spec. on something like this too often. Having the spec change too much would complicate things for the target audience. The people these devices are intended ...

Re: Known to work SD cards. Please add yours !

<r>Quote from UnderSampled on November 5, 2011, 19:46<br/> Do we know what the maximum speed for SD cards on the Raspberry Pi is? It is possible to get a 4gb class 10 (10 MB/s) for 8 dollars, but will it be limited by some other restriction? You can also get a 32gb class 10 for around 45 dollars. Is...

Re: The emulator speed.

<t>Well on to another question. I check the cpu info from the terminal in the VirtualBox and it reports my actual processor (intel i5 2500k) not the emulated ARM processor? If that is the case I\'m wondering what the point of spending anymore time testing executables is going to do because it isn\'t...

Re: Game Console OS

<t>This topic is one of my intended uses for the R-Pi when I get one. I figured some type of stripped down linux, and write some API libraries to make development of simple games easy. Start out with some simple tile based setups, and then develop more complex ones. Of-course better programmers coul...

Re: The emulator speed.

<t>I downloaded the torrent of the emulator to give it a spin, and I was impressed about it\'s speed. I\'m running it on VirtualBox.<br/> <br/> Is the speed of the emulator a good indication of the final hardware? Or is running fast because of the internal 7200rpm HDD in my computer? What I\'m askin...

Re: RAID NAS

They arn\'t avalible yet. I don\'t think it has been attempted.

How do you plan on connecting several hard drives? Through a usb 2.0 hub? I would think that you would want something with some SATA ports.
