Re: A better gui text editor?

I know some people joke about vi but many of us have used nothing else for the last 25+ years and no other lightweight editor even come close to the power of vi. When something's gone tits up and nothing works - vi always come to the rescue! Me and a friend had a challenge in the late 90's and we de...

Re: The Ultimate Cat Thread

We had up to 48 cats (plus dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, hermit crabs, lizards, sisters, ... ) at any one time when i was growing up as my mother was chairwoman of the local cat protection league so we often had waifs and strays boarding with us for a few weeks. My younger sister took over her ...

Re: need pinout for screen

The panel is used in the Russian(?) ebook TB-430HD and by lokking at the schematics you should be able to work out the pinout.

Re: 10" Touch Screen for Raspi on route shortly!

Apart from the odd usb fubar ghosting events the touch functionality works much better now and I'm very happy with the solution posted - big thank you! But as long as we're having usb failures we will have to wait for a stable platform. At the moment all sorts of bad things can happen when the point...

Wow!
You've seemed to have solved the case!

I shall have a tinker with this tonight and I've been playing around with similar settings myself without glitch-free outcome so this is more than welcome.

Many thanks!

Re: USB Hub driver?

Regardless, Raspberry Pi accessories BADLY need their own power source! You can connect a mouse or a keyboard (without fancy HW) but everything else draws too much and the poor Raspberry Pi can't deliver enough with unwanted effects as a result. One trick when adding USB hub is to power the hub only...

Re: Juke Box with Touch Screen

I'm using a 10" touch screen from open-elec and I'm more than happy with mine! The only annoying thing is the touch functionality playing up every now and then due to onboard USB "limitations" at the moment... (I write "limitations" in an attempt to be politically correct... Raspi USB is rather dodg...

Re: Desktop use MK802 vs Pi

I suppose I could, but using android with a mouse doesn't seem very fun. Why? Android works as well with a mouse as with touch, i,e yer fingers. I've had some issues with slidepads (the laptop kind) and android but never a bog standard USB mouse. I'm running Android on pretty much everything...

I'm kicking myself for updating one of my IMPORTANT images a few hours ago... I will fsck the fs later in hope of salvage but it ended in a bang... And since "real men don't take backups, they redo the work instead" I might have to start over with my directfb driven uae project... 8GB Micro SD class...

He means that - providing you have installed other window manager like xfce, kde or similar - changing the default wm is done with the command "update-alternatives --config x-window-manager" and follow the instructions.

Re: Qt on Raspberry Pi as an Embedded System

No, it wont boot in under, or even near, two seconds. If speed is required then you have to look at bare metal coding or perhaps some low level QNX stuff. One possible solution could be to boot a small RAM image and execute from there but I suspect the load time on Raspberry Pi will take >2 sec rega...

Re: Many GROSS design failures on the Pi -USB failures

There is a side-effect to the "possibly dodgy USB malarkey" and that is LEARNING. Raspberry Pi was always about learning if I'm not totally wrong and even if I haven't been digging as deep as others have I have learnt more about low-level USB than I thought I ever would. In the end of the day we're ...

uae without X (breakout from other thread)

Wrote this in another thread but decided not divert into my own thread since it's a specific question about uae and not about emulators in general. Anyone got UAE running with directfb? I found an old patch which I quickly ported to the latest uae sources but no joy. (http://www.sci.fi/~syrjala/uae/...
