Re: CESIL controlled Xmas tree...

My tree is happily blinking away in some kind of psychedelic colours! :D

(but the snowflakes I added in the background interferes with the tree-graphics so I'll have to find a way around that one...)

We'll see if I can churn something out for the competition or not... ;)

Re: DSP PROGRAMMING ON RASPBERRY PI

Well it does have a DSP, it's just not accessible (yet). From the wiki: DSP core: There is a DSP, but there isn't currently a public API (Liz thinks the BC team are keen to make one available at some point) Wow! That's something I had missed... If one could get access to a DSP on the Raspi then we'...

Multi-lingual forum and its downsides...

The forum is now very multi-lingual which is great for those who don't speak English. However, I often find myself clicking a title (in more or less perfect English) only to be faced with a thread in German, Spanish etc etc. This is not a major issue but I suspect many of us uses the link "New Posts...

Re: Raspberry 500 / Amiga Pi ?

Don't forget that many computers nowadays power USB even if the computer is turned off.
This is certainly the case of all my laptops but then I always put them in hibernate mode... (restarts are for whimps who like to play safe ;) )

Re: Raspberry 500 / Amiga Pi ?

Can somebody please confirm if this will work at the bios level on a pc? I have been putting this together on a netbook and I could not get into the bios using the amiga keyboard. I have yet to test it on a proper motherboard. Thanks :) This has got nothing to do with the host computer you're conne...

Re: "Made in China" Raspberry Pi

THose caps are a bit fragile, but in fact the board will work without them. Note that there are 10k's of Raspi's coming out of China per week, so counting all the 'dodgy' boards and you still have a tiny percentage. Yes, I know it'll work without that capacitor but one would hope it wouldn't fall o...

Re: "Made in China" Raspberry Pi

I also received two China-made Raspberry Pi's yesterday after nearly six months waiting... ...and as a bonus one doubled up as a maracas  I have a black belt in soldering so putting the cap back on the board wasn't a biggie but counting all the dodgy boards delivered from China one must begin t...

Re: 10" Touch Screen for Raspi on route shortly!

My display is pretty much on par with my Asus Transformer TF700T - which has one of the best, if not the best, display on the market. The display comes with a light sensor attached that I still haven't given much focus... Perhaps that's a source of config? I was about to put my 10" panel in my car b...

Re: RPi Idea, Private Wiki Server [video]

Most people only read the forums but never respond. I'm running a very large forum with 6000+ users and the most traffic is generated by "guest" account - for reading. Sometimes a post gets no response only due to the fact that there's nothing to discuss. Perhaps your solution was complete and every...

Re: 10" Touch Screen for Raspi on route shortly!

Has anyone thought of booting rasbmc with the touchscreen, it seems a more touch friendly interface and it is built on rasbian so will work with the drivers. Hoping for one of these for christmas! :D Well... My initial reason for buying the touch screen was to have a in-bed-entertainment-system wit...

Re: Display Settings

Composite video does not support changing the video mode.
For PAL you're stuck with 576i and for NTSC 480i

i.e normal TV modes.

For other resolutions you must utilize HDMI.

The Raspberry Pi is intended to get kids tinkering again, not creating bare minimum super slimmed cheap hw for small production runs... We can use the Raspberry Pi for the above second statement but don't expect the foundation to alter the hw layout to suit your needs. It was mentioned that it took ...

Have you tried a try - catch statement and printing the exception? If not it will give you detailed information on why it's failing... try { ... connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:sqlite:/home/pi/Desktop/links.db"); ... } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); }

Oh gawd, CESIL - "Computer Education in Schools Instructional Language"... You tell that to the kids of today.... and they wouldn't believe a word of it! Kids today think producing html is programming... and not a dtd to SGML, which they've never heard of. Assembler is unheard of and C is the name ...

Re: Did someone say CESIL?

CECIL didn't travel too far outside UK, did it? We started with 8502 asm and later 68k asm but that was quite a few years later... In school we were given a really shitty system called Compis (friend) and had to write COMAL and turbo pascal in CP/M-86 and although the idea was good, the implementati...

There is no comparison between the RPi and the MK802II. The MK802II is much faster in every way and has access to the Play Market. It plays video well and streams video easily from my Mac. Well... I find Raspberry Pi a lot faster and crisper when it comes to render video with the GPU than my MK802 ...
