Re: java.io.IOException: Invalid argument

If all you are trying to do is interact with the Raspberry Pi's GPIO ports from your own Java code, then you may want to try something like the Pi4J Project instead. This is an abstraction library that makes it much easier to work with the GPIO pins and states and you don't have to attempt to do all...

Re: Pi4J hard float dpkg issue

I am not familiar with how to debug "dpkg", but you can also just download the .zip package and create the directory manually and unpack the zip. Just make sure to grab 0.0.5-SNAPSHOT for supporting Oracle JDK SE 8.

Re: Pi4J equivalent code for Adafruit's basic photocell tuto

FYI, I have added support for a new GpioPinDigitalMultipurpose interface to support cases like this where you need to work with a single pin in input and output modes. See this new example: https://github.com/Pi4J/pi4j/blob/74a3562bdd81f146e60a2d862fc2c647d469b367/pi4j-example/src/main/java/Multipur...

Is a hard-float early access release of the JRE expected this year as suggested by this Tweet?

If so will it support ARMv6 ?

Hi Robert is there a way to make sure that the OS use of the port is completely disabled? Mauro Hi Mauro, The only thing I know to do is comment out the line in the "/etc/inittab" file that references ttyAMA0 and in the "/boot/cmdline.txt" file remove the "console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,1152...

Also use the .setMode() method instead of the .export() method. The .export() may try to do more than we really need to change pin direction on the fly.

Re: Pi4J equivalent code for Adafruit's basic photocell tuto

Hi khooke, That is an interesting problem ..... hmmmm... Your project wants to drain the capacitor by setting the pin to low once it if flipped to a high state. Under the covers all GPIO pins are based on this impl class: http://pi4j.com/apidocs/com/pi4j/io/gpio/impl/GpioPinImpl.html The provisionin...

Re: Pi4J - A Java library to interface with the Raspberry Pi

Hi Mauro, Not sure I have personally tested the char API method, there could be a bug in it. I have successfully used the string input arguments in my projects. Try changing the input chars to strings and see if it makes a difference. I'll test with chars later tonight. Once you get it working, you ...

I am not a Python programmer, but the Java code looks equivalent to me :ugeek: Are you running on the OpenJDK or the Oracle JDK? If you are using the OpenJDK, then if you switch to Oracle JDK, the loop iterations may go faster. See benchmarks here: http://www.savagehomeautomation.com/projects/raspbe...

Which version of Pi4J JAR are your trying to use? If using the 512mb Pi, you probably need the latest dev version of Pi4J available at:

Hi Denis, The I2C implementation in Pi4J is pretty new but I did manage to use it successfully to create a I2C-based GpioProvider for the MCP23008 and MCP23017. This source may provide a starting example for you to look at. https://github.com/Pi4J/pi4j/tree/master/pi4j-gpio-extension/src/main/java/c...

As to a Java subforum, at the moment, since the Java is a bit slow, we might hold off - there are plenty of other Java resources out there for the basic programming side. However, I'll throw the idea past the other mods and see what they think. Oracle claims to be planning an early release of the J...

It does not support analog I/O onboa...
