Re: update rasperry pi 3

Yup, that's a troll. Thanks for trying to help, folks; we really appreciate how kind people are to beginners here. Genuine beginners, that is. (I should add - there are some other tells, and I'm not just jumping down OP's throat for being a strange mix of amazingly clueless and reasonably informed. ...

Re: update rasperry pi 3

I am about thirty seconds away from closing this thread on the grounds of OP being a troll. This just isn't ringing true. OP, if your next answer doesn't properly address at least one of the helpful questions you've been asked, I'm bringing the hammer down.

Re: Standalone Kodi on RPi3: wifi issues

If you've got a metal case or a case with a metal support or screw next to the WiFi adaptor (or an add-on board with a spacer or screw there), that could be the culprit. Have you tried it without the case?

Re: Recycle My Pi

Absolutely not throwing any shade on the OP - this is a great idea - but I think it's quite easy to underestimate just how hard setting up a scheme like this can be, especially if you intend it to scale (and if you don't intend it to scale, what's the point?) Administering something like this is goi...

Re: Can I use the Raspberry Pi to help me get up in the morn

Didn't you post about this earlier this year? I'm going to merge that thread and this (duplicate threads are strongly discouraged round here) - I think the suggestions you got back in May were good ones. (I still stand by using a PIR sensor in your room to see if anyone's moving, or using Open CV to...

No, that was Eben. Prince Philip was very, very funny about it. (A lot of the guys there weren't wearing ties; it was, after all, a technology event!)

Re: Graph & timeline of Pi Sales

We're not partying or making a particularly big fuss about it - but you can bet we'll be making a fuss when we hit 13m, which will mean Raspberry Pi will have outsold the Commodore 64, to become the biggest selling home computing platform outside the Mac and the PC. Already rubbing my hands together...

Re: Raspberry Pi, a new chapter? Made in Japan.

It's real. These are for the Japanese market only, and they're produced in a Sony factory that's cloned the production line from the Sony factory in Wales that makes the vast majority of Raspberry Pis. We're going to Japan to do some press about the new development (and to go to a Jam, which I'm rea...

Not much to add - but I should point out that the five-year-old new poster DEFINITELY wasn't a genuine five-year-old. There were certain tells: language, typing ability, technical knowledge and more. Someone using the same account tried to justify the fact that the original post was pretty idiotic b...

Re: Older Pi Models Surprisingly Expensive

Pi2 is the only product we have ever EOLed - 2B is a direct drop-in replacement for it and is completely backwards compatible, so nobody's projects or businesses were affected negatively. You can still order a 2B - lead times are longer than they are for other models because demand is minuscule sinc...

I just passed a journalist from the WSJ on to Eben for an interview on this (they wanted to know more about our relationship with them), so I guess that'll be published later today. It won't mean any changes here, or with our relationship with them; we licence them the IP so they can manufacture (th...

I think you've maybe missed some announcements: they're being shipped to Adafruit, Microcenter, Pimoroni and The Pi Hut weekly.
