Re: Will Pi zero be available again before Christmas?

I think it's because of the Italian postage system. I've read lots of complaints about items going missing. I ordered one from The Pi Hut just after 12.00, when I saw that they were in stock, and I just saw an email saying that it had been shipped. Sadly, that's correct; I spoke to Paul at Pimoroni...

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

I spoke to Paul at Pimoroni about that this morning: there are a few countries where they've had repeated problems with the local post office (deliveries turning up damaged, absurdly late, or just disappearing) and will only offer courier service to as a result. Looks like Italy's one of those.

Re: pi zero suspended

No, production's not suspended. Please don't spread FUD, OP. (Well done everybody else for spotting it for FUD. We don't like FUD.) Farnell (I'm going to guess they're your "large supplier") aren't making the Raspberry Pi Zero: the Foundation is, and for now Farnell are not stocking it - the only or...

Next attempt's tomorrow night (Saturday Dec 5) - the hoped-for launch time is 22:10 GMT. We'll be live-tweeting the event from about an hour before launch from the Raspberry Pi Twitter account. (For the third time this week - my nerves are shot!)

Re: Model B+ -- availability

We don't EOL products. There's not much demand for B+, but there's still a significant chunk of people who want it (some have designed it into products, for example). So you should be able to buy one, but not all sellers will stock it. Joe, please stop spreading FUD.

Folks: Tieri is the sockpuppet of someone who's been banned for being rude to other users, and has now joined his parent in the great beyond. Please don't feed the troll by helping him derail the conversation.

Re: logo programming on Pi Zero?

We at the Raspberry Pi Foundation DEFINITELY recommend Pi 2 for beginners. It's more flexible, has much more functionality, and is much faster and more powerful. The Zero is really a tool for more experienced users to use in specialised projects.

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

The guy who designed the Zero was ex-Brcm, as are most of the other engineers...actually, all of the engineers? Trying to think of one who isn't ex-Brcm! It's a sensible approach - they already know the chip very well, and Eben knows them very well, and they all already know each other. We do have ...

Re: Raspberry Pi for outdoors

There's one on the roof of Pi Towers in a weatherproof box, which has been there for over a year; we also have one in a field at Dave's parents' farm in Cornwall that's been up for a bit longer than that, from when we were doing weather station testing. (It's got a camera too). Can't help with displ...

Re: Mass Hysteria comes to raspberrypi.org

Actually, the reason we're using mini and micro adapters there is that we can't use through-hole components on Zero, which removes full-size USB as an option. The sockets used have mounting legs which are soldered on the rear side. Would full size, through hole components really have caused an issu...

Re: Mass Hysteria comes to raspberrypi.org

Actually, the reason we're using mini and micro adapters there is that we can't use through-hole components on Zero, which removes full-size USB as an option. There *are* surface-mount, full-size HDMI adapters available, but the engineering team here is pretty squeamish about using surface mount for...

A subscription is much cheaper than the eBay scalpers are charging for a single issue - AND you'll get your free Zero, plus a cable bundle. https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/subscribe/

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

Well, I understand it but still agree with Kusti. I'm a musician and if I'd like to buy the Zero, I would like to use it for music. I would think that a musician would want to use his own sound output and not the very basic one that would be built into a system like this anyway. Well, I don't have ...

Re: How to disable the CPU usage monitor in Raspbian Jessie

That's not a CPU usage monitor - it means that your power supply is inadequate. You should be using a power supply that feeds a consistent 5v to your Pi 2. The rainbow square shows when your power supply doesn't do that, which puts your work at risk.

Both the Pi Hut and Pimoroni have really good shipping rates if you're outside the UK - well worth a look when it's back in stock!
