Re: RPDesktop on Buster ?

Yeah, I know. The error was when you were installing it from the usb stick, or sd card, and it said something was corrupt. I think, that it's just my computer though, I am retrying it now. If I get the same error ill try and post it.

Re: RPDesktop on Buster ?

Is anyone having problems with the new release? I have the stretch version on an old laptop, but the new one is giving me errors when it try to install it. Is this just me, or a bug in the new release, or something else?

Thanks, I still don't know very much about java, (at least in relation to python), but that's very helpful.

Method in ArrayList?

Hello, I have done some java, but I mostly do python3, and in python3 you can add a function to a list:

Code: Select all

>>> def test():
	print('Test')

>>> testList = []
>>> testList.append(test)
>>> testList[0]()
Test
So my question is: is there a way to do this, (or something like it), in java?

Re: Android Studio for PC

I just followed the instructions, and it worked great, no errors. Then I made a main menu shortcut so I can run it from the start menu. Thanks for the help.

No Main Menu editor

I don't seem to have the main menu editor. I know its usually at "Menu>Preferences>Main Menu Editor" (on the pi), but it isn't there. Is there a package that needs installing, or is it just not on the PC Desktop Version?

Re: Speech to Text Engine

Yeah, I think that it needed pulse audio installed. Here's what I used:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install pulseaudio libpulse-dev
Then:

Code: Select all

sudo pip3 install pocketsphinx
Thing is, pocketsphinx isn't very accurate, so even though its offline, it doesn't really turn the speech to text accurately at all.

Power through the POE pins?

Hello, I am thinking of making a RPi tablet and have found a screen that uses all of the 40 GPIO pins. I would like it to have a pi 4 and want to power it through the gpio. The pi 4 also has the extra 4 pins for the poe hat, so is it possible to power the pi through those 4 pins, and still leave the...

Re: PocketSphinx won't install

Yes, I know that, I am using pip because I have uninstalled python2 and now "pip" installs for python3. I checked the version with "pip -V" / "pip3 -V" and "pip" says python 3.x. However, even when I had python2, "pip3 install pocketsphinx" still gave me the same errors. Here's another part of the e...

The same type that's used for connecting external speakers to a phone or computer. 3-poles.

Re: Root user's password?

I know how to use "sudo" in the command line, but when I am doing something in the GUI and it needs a password for the user "root" I can't figure out what the password is. It isn't the current password that I have or the default password "raspberry".

Re: Data input from an A/V cable

Neat! Thanks. I will try it. Does the av adapter have a power out wire?
I am trying to read and interpret from an induction velocity sensor, and it needs to be powered from the cable and be able to read the data coming from the sensor.
