Re: Pi restarts with servo attached

Just wanted to add a thank-you to this post to Joan. I finally understood what to do with the wiring and now have multiple servos running without using the adafruit board using pigpio which makes that task really simple!

My halloween project is coming along nicely, my daughter is very amused.

Re: javascript FileReader.

Are you expecting the user to provide the file on their system? Or do you hold the temperatures?

FileReader is an API for reading files off of the users machine. It sounds very much like you've got a file on the server that you need to read from to the clients machine every 6 seconds. Am I right?

Re: Electronics and Circuitry - Recommended reading

Thank-you for the example, and thank-you for the recommendations.

I'm really looking forward to "getting this" and being able to think up some designs of my own. But, crawling first.

Re: Electronics and Circuitry - Recommended reading

Thanks for the recommendations. Yep, Radio-Shack just about still exists, I've made many visits there the last couple of days for equipment. I'm not the sort of person that can just follow what I'm told and get satisfaction from the results. Yes, I'm impressed by seeing LEDs on a board light up, but...

Electronics and Circuitry - Recommended reading

It's been a long time since I played with electronics. I'm comfortable with working with software and picking up python or whatever I need, but I really want to understand more about the electronics side. I've managed to get a few leds lighting up following guides but I've seen it done several ways ...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi all, I'm tbd.pi, I'm in New Jersey originally from Oldham, UK. I have big ambitions on controlling a lot of things in my home one day from scheduling, recipes and food management to heating and cooling to monitoring my pool chemicals and temperature. I am a software developer, strangely got into ...

Re: New Blog Post just in time for school

I enjoyed your post, thanks for sharing. I grew up on computers, starting with my Vic20 at the age of 5, and I wish I understood 75% of what goes into even "primitive" computers like that. As a developer of almost 20 years I probably should know a little more. But, I am a product of a generation of ...

Re: Pi restarts with servo attached

Thanks for the replies. Makes sense, drawing too much power. I have the adafruit kit, with a 5v 2a power supply, how do I power the servo off that? Do I put the blue power connector on to my breadboard and then join the supply to that? (joan, I'm the same person who posted about servos on stackexcha...

Pi restarts with servo attached

I was following Gaven MacDonalds video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddlDgUymbxc) on getting a servo running off the pi. I got overambitious because I managed to get an LED or two to blink! I got a cheap Analog Servo with a bundle from Radioshack last night and decide to try it with that. I follo...
