I would like to be able to shut my PI down from within my c program, i found the following line of code

also, im struggling to get a debugger going on geany, i installed GeanyGDB and it does a great job of crashing but it does ask for a 32bit x86 executable how do i do arm debugging?

so using google and (ctrl-c) (ctrl-v) i got a program working that sends "pick" out via the serial port to my windows machine (the windows machine is emulating pic system i have yet to write) and the windows machine sends back a numerical value ( i input the value via hyperterminal and press return)...

i have seen tutorials for this on google, it looked like it would be power hungry (i have a 256 pi) so i gave up and got a 2nd sd card. £8 or 12 hours of my life.

using "-rst-" solution i have a working lookup table, i could kiss you :D , but i had to add -std=c99 to my compile instruction, will using ISO/IEC 9899:1999 have a detrimental effect on my code?
