Re: Getting shock from micro hdmi port when connected to tv hdmi port

Unfortunately plugging all devices into a common power bar will not really help, as with two-prong plugs you can simply rotate the plug 180 degrees, and switch the "hot" and "cold" wires to the plugged in device, meaning that there can still be a huge voltage difference between one device's chassis...

Re: Python script self terminate

It will stop/terminate if it runs to completion, or if you close the terminal without backgrounding the process. Beyond those observations you will need to supply more details, such as what OS, what script, how are you starting it, what are you expecting to happen, and what is happening.

Re: Netflix on Raspberry Pi 4

The fix is acquiring a current WideVine library (libwidevine.so). In theory you should be able to take it out of any 64 bit image. With an appropriate library and user agent string it should work. @ventz just extracted the library and packaged it all up nicely in a script.

Re: Netflix on Raspberry Pi 4

Are you sure you are running the "right" Chromium? The automated install script creates a second menu item called "Chromium (Media Edition)" that is running with the "right" user agent string.

It is working fine for me in Canada.

Typical Unix Haters Guide responses here: "You could do that". I think OP's point is that it is GOOD to have sponsored/tested/approved solutions to things. The idea that everybody should re-invent every wheel, is, well, just not in keeping with the modern world. The fact that all of these things CO...

Re: how transfer files to sd card / pi?

As far as I can tell Linux Reader is (as @Glowin the Dark suggests) just a reader. Safest way is either boot the Pi and then copy the files using a network aware process (scp, ftp, etc), or copy the files to a USB data stick and sneakernet them over to the Pi. You certainly can install software on W...

Re: Locate command in Bash

I am not a fan of tools that require maintenance of db to find stuff.

The advantage of "which" is that it uses your defined path. If "which" cannot find the command any shell script you run will not find it unless you use appropriately qualified paths.

It is going to depend very heavily on what your background and immediate support infrastructure is. Two examples: I am a fairly new Pi user (around 1 year). However I have been a Unix sysadmin and been involved with computers since before PCs were a thing. I started using Linux on pc's back when you...

1.5Mb/s isn't to be sniffed at, BTW. You can get a lot of useful work done over that. Given that you can remote admin telephone exchanges down at 300 Baud, is suspect you can get lots of useful things done at 1.5 Mb/s. Admittedly that was 20 years ago but I am willing to bet the exchange is still i...

Re: Pi 4 Hanging - Lots of Screenshots

I seriously doubt that your Pi has gone rogue so for some reason it is being told to take screenshots. First and happiest possibility: Bad keyboard or connector such that the Pi is seeing PtrSc keypresses. Swap to a different keyboard and see if this stops. Second possibility: Your daughter has gone...

breadboard, pegboard, single sided... was the tinkering world I started in from. Was so easy with what are now massive 100 thou lead pitch ics, with slow clocks. Contrast that to 40+ layer cards, with blind and burried vias, and matched impedance everything with fine pitch smt.

What command line is used to disable ClamAV, and will this have the effect of disabling it permanently, or will ClamAV start running in the background when I next reboot? No clue... I don't run it. I would suspect that you can disable it however it starts and it should just stay disabled until you ...

And of that small subset, you would have to remove, those that don't want WiFi and are happy with any of the software based methods of disabling it. If you are that stressed about it, just faraday cage that sucker.

It is fairly simple to get a personal license for the student version of SolidWorks. However, I do not know if that extends to SolidWorksPCB that sounds like a repackage of another vendor's tool. Further to what Heater mentioned, schematic capture is just "drawing" the circuit, in a smart drawing pa...

Re: Best hands-on tutorials for PCB + RPi + Python

Somewhat puzzled... SolidWorks is a 3D mechanical design package, not a PCB layout tool. The normal flow would be a schematic capture tool and then feed that into a board layout tool.

What is it you are trying to design?

Re: Does Raspberry Pi 4 Model B/4GB include Wifi and microSD card?

Totally depends on what you buy. Check the description closely. Typically you will want the SBC itself (the Pi), the appropriate power supply (get a real one, not some knockoff, and definitely not your phone charger), a reputable name brand SD card of the appropriate size (8 or 16 GB if you want a b...

The SBC is designed to allow the easy integration of a screen (or touchscreen) to your project. However, the OS (built from Debian Linux) is not particularly touch screen friendly, in the way an iPad is touch screen friendly. The OS really makes a bunch of UI assumptions that are fairly keyboard cen...

Not a Putty user but I would try:

With the mouse left-click, hold, and drag cursor to select+copy text to clipboard. Paste with center mouse wheel/button.

Personally I would just switch to ssh, but I don't have a lot of Windows boxes to deal with.
