Re: piRoot: A way to run x86_64 Debian, and Raspbian in the terminal.

A few things: - If I were to add more operating systems to piRoot, what would you want? - Rpi686 is dead. If you are still using it (hope not), please upgrade to piRoot. Or if you still want to use it, read the README on GitHub. - The website has been updated. The wiki pages are moving over there. -...

I am sure there will be other things which emulate too slowly to be tolerable, but that can be offset by a willingness to be more tolerant in having it than not having it at all.

Its mainly for people who are using the Pi for whatever, and say they want to run Spotify or whatever. Or if you just want to use the Raspbian option as a sandbox for experiments.

Okay, the link is back up. Unrelated question, but can anyone tell me why I get this error when I try to chroot into Kali Linux?

I would have, but the file size was two large. Right now I am making a version without the OSes, and will post that on GitHub.

Re: piRoot: A way to run x86_64 Debian, and Raspbian in the terminal.

You install the app on a Raspberry Pi, and in the app menu you can choose to either run an x86_64 version of Debian, or Raspbian. You can run Raspbian on top of itself.

piRoot: A way to run x86 Debian apps on Raspbian

NOTE: Go to the latest post for newer information Hello! This would have been out sooner, but I have had a bunch of homework. piRoot is my new app that lets you run x86_64 Debian AND Raspbian. It is a .deb app, so you can just install the file. Instructions are in my GitHub wiki, linked here https:...

Re: Rpi686 3.0 Beta 1: A way to run x86 programs on the Pi

When I tried installing Kali Linux, something messed up and I couldn't open another terminal. So right now, don't install Kali Linux from Rpi686, and if you have try running

Code: Select all

sudo chmod 1777 /dev/shm

Rpi686 3.0 Beta 1: A way to run x86 programs on the Pi

I have finished up work on Rpi686 3.0 Beta 1! The final release of Rpi686 3.0 will come later this week. That release will have more stuff included. But Beta 1 has a lot changed! New Changes: You can now use Kali Linux, Ubuntu, and Debian in this release. You can still run your old system (coming in...

Re: Introducing Rpi686 2.0

I have decided that Rpi686 3.0 is going to be amd64 instead of i686. pi386 will be the i686 system. Rpi686 will be out by the end of this week.

Re: Introducing Rpi686 2.0

So integrating pi386 is going to take a while. I'm going to hold that off. In Version 2, I have fixed some bugs, added a way to check the version, and made it to where you can install virtualbox by just typing

Code: Select all

apt install virtualbox-5.2
. Enjoy!

Re: Rpi686: A way to run x86 programs on Raspberry Pi

Got it. I will have those fixed by version 2. And I did Leafpad because a while ago I tried to install it (probably should have updated the system, but I was a noob) but I couldn't. I'll try Spotify. Edit: Spotify's a pain. I'm doing Virtualbox. In version 2, Virtualbox will already be able to be in...

Alrighty. I have redone this post, because I have screwed up yet again. Follow these instructions to install Rpi686 1.2 . Download Rpi686 Above, delete Rpi686 and download the new files: wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/SkywalkerSW5/Rpi686/1.2/Rpi686-root wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com...

Re: Rpi686: A way to run x86 programs on Raspberry Pi

Oh I forgot to mention a couple things. Because you don't compile the kernel, I found that Eltechs (people who made ExaGear) made a version of Wine that is 2G/2G. I will add that to the post in a little bit. And in the second version of Rpi686 I will add Pi386 integration. 2 layers of x86!!! Really ...

Introducing Rpi686 2.0

Hello everyone! I have just watched the NovaSpirit Tech video about running x86 programs on Raspberry Pi. But I was able to do it without having to compile the kernel (there is another way to run Wine). And a while ago when I just started Linux, I would not have been able to do this. So I have made ...

Re: Raspberry Pi MATE Setup Script

I’m about done with version two. It will feature an option to install MATE, XFCE, LXDE, and GNOME (maybe it will run on the Pi4?). But I still need a name. It will also let you choose to let you install media programs, interweb, and coding programs.
