I recommend to use SSR (Solid State Relay), Its is safe and have circuitry to proper control AC.
SSR for 25A or more, like Fotek SSR-25 DA-H.

Hi, The xorg.conf is not mandatory, you can create it if need to change some default configuration parameter. You can create one using this command (on console, without any X session running). X -configure The file xorg.conf.new is created, you can copy to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and edit. Or just create...

Re: Cannot get relay board to release relays

Hi, I don't recommend to use these relay board (sainsmart and clones) to control mains AC. Don't have popper isolation and protection. If relay is activated on low state (0V), and logic/coil side is powered by 5V or 12V, the described situation can happen. To solve it, use ULN2308 transistor array, ...

Hi, SSMTP not listen to port 25, It is not a email daemon. If need to listen tcp port, use proxsmtp. I suggest to set smtplib to direct contact gmail server (smtp.gmail.com), on port 587 (TLS), or 465 (SSL). Most ISP restrict connection to/from port 25. Hi, Also, you can use RS232 (serial), RPi have one port, some PC main board have One or Two (need a ttl to rs232 converter). Or use a usb to serial adapter with 3v3 TTL. Re: Directly connect 3.3V 5mW laser diode to Pi Zero GPIO?

Hi, I did buy 3.3V 5mW laser diodes for my Arduino Dues originally, because Due did need motor driver to driver a 5V laser module I had. You bought a laser diode module, not a bare laser diodes, right? Laser diodes need a feedback circuit to work proper. Mounted/module laser diodes have this circui...

Re: 5V to 3.3V with 10K and 560R resistors ?

Hi, The other possible pitfall of using resistors in a voltage divider is if there's some capacitance in the source or the pi that either needs to be charged or discharged for the value to change. By having large value resistors in there you'll be limiting the current that can flow which could intro...

Re: 5V to 3.3V with 10K and 560R resistors ?

Hi, The danger of connect 5V to 3v3 input pins is the current, not the voltage. Pin have protection diodes, reverse polarized from VCC to GND. Input current flow from pin to VCC, applying power to VCC line. The protection diode is not capable of high current need to power the whole circuit, and can ...

OP only want to power off raspberry pi?
Configure ctrl+alt+del to power off (halt) instead reboot.
Need to enable crtl+alt-del on Xorg.conf
Change inittab or systemd to power off.

Another approach, monitor some GPIO pin, and take power off action.

Re: Is a breadboard just a breadboard??

Hi,
Is good idea to use a socket to place/unplace I.C. on breadboard.
But, need to use rounded/turned pin socket.
Not, the stamped pin type.
Rounded/turned type have a more rigid pin.
Also, have a special socket with longs pins that are used on wire wrapping building.
