Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

No, you actually need a USB keyboard. But only for the mapping. You can plug it off after that procedure.

Edit: New post in between. :)

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

I managed to get perfect sound with retroarch+pocketsnes core by defining sdl as the audio backend with 44100 samplerate. However I never managed to get the thing run faster than 70% speed during actual gameplay. I tested it with lostvikings and when you pause the game the game runs fullspeed and t...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

Ok, so the speed issues seem to be mame as using the snes emulator is running smooth with super Mario and donkeyKong country. I still have no sound. When running hello audio the sound works but when doing sudo aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav I get no sound output. Apologies for the mu...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

One of the devs said that using the Rsound driver and forwarding the audio to his PC gave him basically perfect sound on his Raspberry Pi, so if you have a spare PC that can work I guess. :P Also, any sound going through the 3.5mm jack or HDMI on the board will be either A: the ALSA driver or B: th...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

I looked for these products some time ago and read a lot of user's ratings. The adapter works fine with one controller, but NOT with two (crappy reaction times and complete blackouts). The imitation gamepads do work, but they don't work very long. Soon the buttons get loose and the controller someti...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

First of all I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this great project. Especially Toad King, Aloshi, and petrockblog. But has anyone been able to get proper sound running yet? I've tested several roms for NES, SNES, and Atari. They all run great, but the sound is horrible! Is there ...

Re: raspberry pi model b as NAS

Not more than 30-40MB per second with a Gigabit-LAN-USB-Adapter due to the limitations of the USB port. About 10-20MB per second is somehow realistic i think.

Re: Com port through USB

Maybe you could open two consoles.

In the first one, you run "cat /dev/ttyusbX" or similar (stop with CTRL+C).
The second one lets you enter commands like this "echo mycommandhere > /dev/ttyusbX". The output will be shown in the first console.

Nice work. Have you tried connecting your HDMI port? Seems a little bit too deep... Maybe you need some improvements here?

I bought this http://www.bitwizard.nl/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=85 and this http://www.bitwizard.nl/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=69 and used this http://www.bitwizard.nl/software/bw_rpi_tools-20120616.tgz to write text to the LCD display (I2C). I wrote a simple script whi...

Re: May I introduce: The Pitendo

Actually, the "Gambatte" module for RetroArch runs pretty well, but SNES and NES still isn't fun at all. I tried to compile snes9x but failed due to several dependencies I couldn't solve so far. Maybe I'll try again this weekend.

That's the plan. The problem now is that "RetroArch" still is too slow for a smooth gaming experience. But that's a topic for another forum.

May I introduce: The Pitendo

Having some freetime I decided to create a "special" case for the Raspberry Pi out of some old "Mario Paint" SNES cartridge.
