Power the Pi from the USB (rather than the micro-usb)

I am using a powered usb hub and I found that the pi can work even when the microusb power cable is not plugged in. Presumably it is using the power from the usb hub through the actual usb port. Why should the pi behave like this? Is it safe to just do without the micro usb power?

So I finally got it to work. The lilliput device is actually recognised as a tablet device rather than a touch screen. My touchscreen appears to have the axis reversed, ie, if i move right the house move left. The xinput-calibrator cannot fix this issue. Is there a way to rectify this in a config file without having to tamper with the kernel drivers? Hello maybe this could help as it sounds like a possible solution...

hi I have the same adaptor. May I ask how do you:
