Re: Audio recording bad at certain sample rates??

Well known issue with that sound card that runs only 48kHz. Resampling to 44.1 probably takes too much CPU for the Raspberry to run in real time. Suggest capturing sound at 48, the captured sound will then be best quality from the sound card. If you need to, resample off-line later.

Re: Wayland Build

Only a quick thought about servicing machines around the country: why not put a spare SD card inside the box with the Pi? Configured with software and ready to go. Easy to swap for a normal person. Would save a day or two waiting for a new card to arrive. Or, why not as the hardware cost is so low, ...

Re: RPI for professional use

Personally I would not use an Rpi in a vendor machine. I would expect the micro card to fail too easily and too often. I would preferr a system where a less flimsy mechanical soultion holds the boot memory. But it is rather easy to do environomenal testing, as example testing vibrations.

Re: Wordpress on the Pi

Two things I believe will add speed. 1) improve the speed of running PHP by including a cache. The cache will hold "compiled" script in memory (well, not sure if the term really is compiled, but still). The most common and one that generally works out of the box is php_apc. It is avaliable by sudo a...

Re: LAMP / Vagrant

LAMP and Wordpress works like a charm on the Pi. Maybe a bit on the slow side, but add php_apc to the system and WP Super Cache to the Wordpress site and you are good to go. At least my box is. Possibly not for a public server (whatever that is) but for learning and sharing with a few friends it is ...

Re: Raspberry Pi LAMP server

Interesting, Is there something to be changed in PHP? Not that I know of. The scripts are "in the web-site" and hence follows the apache2 document root, and AFAIK there are no parameters in the PHP system that needs to be changed. Additionally I recommend downloading php-apc. Default config works f...

Re: Raspberry Pi LAMP server

There are a few references in the setup files you need to change. Apache2 Not an expert, but this works for me (my site is on /opt2 disk and you need to create a few directories there /etc/apache2/sites-available ... DocumentRoot /opt2/www ... ErrorLog /opt2/apache2/error.log CustomLog /opt2/apache2...

Re: Apache not starting

Looks like there is an extra ' on the first line. Remove that. '# envvars - default environment variables for apache2ctl And, seeing the video, I believe that this install does not use httpd.conf, you need to add the ServerName localhost (if that is what you are using) somewhere else. I added it to ...

Re: Anybody running SSD on RPi?

I run an SSD. Got a small SSD (actually 60G which is not really small) and a really cheap external disc USB cabinet (smallish box). The cabinet came with a power cable, USB in one side. I found a USB charger 2amps with two outlets. One outlet goes to the pi and one goes to the SSD. Short USB cable f...

Re: raspbian on via apc

Will try it as soon as I can. Bought a microSD today, but forgot that I need some way to write it as well, getting an adapter over the weekend. Some personal opinions: Android on the APC is not for me, started hating it as soon as I tried, but we are all different. But the APC probably is a better h...

Re: Ideas for wordpress performance

Gunnar, did you simply run apt-get php-apc to install? Yes, nothing more. Did no changes in setups (it was a bit over my head to understand what if anything to change). This made a large difference in speed. Additionally I added wp super cache and simple enabled it on first page. A slight differenc...

Re: Joomla and sqlite - not a happy partnership

Nop. Only mysqpl supported. See support info. http://www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html Happily mysql runs quite ok on the raspberry. I suggest installing php_apc as well, default configuration will improve the speed. ( Beginner in this area, not noticed any problems at all with the php_apc)...

Re: Ideas for wordpress performance

Again, thanks for the help. Simply installing php-apc made a quite noticable difference in site speed. Also managed to install nginx, probably misspelled something before. No time right now to test switching server, will come. Aaah, how nice to know that I may beat up this server to my hearts conten...

Re: Reach OwnCloud from outside

Dynamic ip-adresses may not be very dynamic really. It depends on the provider. I believe I have had the same "dynamic" IP-adress the last 6 months or so. Alternatively, if dyndns is not free anymore, and that is all the router supplies, you might find an alternative and install that on the raspberr...

Re: Ideas for wordpress performance

Thank you for the feedback benthepoet and permaband. Beeing a near beginner in LAMP there is a quite a bit to learn. I will use the Raspberry setup to learn more about performance tweaking. It is very easy to see what makes a difference, not so on a larger server. After all, right "out of the box" t...

Ideas for wordpress performance

Time for next step in learning process for me. I have a simple wordpress site up and running on my Raspberry. It runs the standard Apache / MySql / PHP5 setup. The site files and MySql database is placed on a USB SSD disc (had an extra small SSD disc around and placed in a USB enclosure). The site i...

Re: Rapsberry without OS/as pure embedded device

I look forward to running on bare metal as well. The pi has plenty of CPU and a nice price point compared to, say, the Arduino. And for all the questions about why: to me the reason is because it is there. To others it is probably as stupid as running marathons (which I like doing) or climbing Mount...
