Re: USB redux

lcd4linux user here. I had already given up and invested in a composite screen as a status display. Today I was adventurous and did an update (Linux berry 3.6.11+ #403 PREEMPT Tue Apr 2 22:48:13 BST 2013). The first reboot after the update failed and I had to replace start.elf manually. For a while ...

Re: Photo Frame-LCD Monitor Won't Display Images After Sleep

Regrettably this doesn't seem to work. Restarting the desktop manager is what does:

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/tvservice -c "PAL 16:9"
sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm restart

Re: Photo Frame-LCD Monitor Won't Display Images After Sleep

I seem to be in a similar situation. My display shows an X session and I can turn it off using tvservice -o. tvservice -c "PAL 16:9" activates the screen, but nothing gets shown.

Re: Event/Notification Display?

Danke! By now I have successfully implemented a long polling jquery-based page. This put me on the proper track. I may study the source quoted to see what I can improve. Currently I am struggling to populate an array with the data returned but I am confident that I will get this sorted out as well.

Re: Event/Notification Display?

Thanks for the response. Frankly, I am so at a loss that I would need more than a pointer to the technology. A snippet of code might help. I am inclined to admit defeat, recognizing that approaching it with a web-based solution is beyond what have the skills for. I am currently thinking about having...

Event/Notification Display?

Currently I am using a LCD photo keychain with lcd4linux as a miniature display. It displays weather and temperature information, current title from MPD and a few more things. The lcd4linux setup watches a few files and changes the info displayed when the files change (eg. one file gets updated with...

Re: USB redux

I really wish Gordon or Liz would give us an update. I had to revert back from a recent attempt with a current firmware when I my Pi got stuck because of errors related to unclaimed usb devices.

That's good to hear, Gordon. Please post this to Liz's usb redux thread and spread the hope. Or, even better, close this thread and point to the other one.

Using 3.6.11+ #362 PREEMPT Tue Jan 22 14:52:21 GMT 2013 and my 320 x 240 LCD display still crashes when bigger chunks of data get pushed to it (eg. when loading the lcd4linux splash screen or bigger images). Re: USB redux

To recap what I am observing (in layperson's terms): pushing large chunks of data via USB makes causes problems. In my environment this means webcams and digital picture frames. My DPF runs fine unless I load a bigger image (e.g. as background or the lcd4linux splash screen). My webcam is unusable s...

Re: USB Cams and Motion on Debian

nomad, Keep an eye on this thread (USB redux) . It might be related to a general USB issue. I tried lower resolutions with my Logitech Fusion but motion would always change to a higher one: [1] Test palette YUYV (352x288) [1] Adjusting resolution from 352x288 to 1024x576. And then it would time-out....

The Pi's kernel is on Github [...] To build it yourself, you really need an additional computer running linux. It takes days to compile the kernel on an r-pi.[...] Thank you for clarifying this, but I guess this is too much for me. Nevertheless, I would like to contribute what I can to get this fix...

Pray tell where would one get such a distribution. Do I need to roll my own?

USB related problems also drive me crazy. I thought they would no longer occur but it seems as soon as there is more 'stress' on the bus devices crash. This is not a power issues (powered hubs are in use), it occurs on 256 and on 512 models and under regular official (#250) and also under the latest...

Hi bimmi, after 5 weeks of waiting my new frame arrived from China (one of the dx104838 kind). Half a day of fighting to flash the firmware (ended up doing it under Windows with SPIProgrammer) and half a day of fighting with my lcd4linux setup I was about to give up. I also ran into the error with "...

Re: Webcam issue with Motion and V4L2

My initial problems with motion were related to old firmware, USB quirks and over-configuration. Once I got rid of all v4l packages/configurations and with a powered USB hub and a fresh start everything works great now. Just for the heck of it, have you tried hooking the camera up to one of the on-b...

Re: Wheezy 2012-9-18 locking up usb and networking

I found the culprit. It is a USB thermometer. My Pi is stable ever since I unplugged it. The device kept disconnecting and got a new ID assigned every two to five minutes. The remaining question: should such mildly misbehaving USB devices really bring the Pi to the fall?
