Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

I use Jessie and xvkbd and everything works ok. Now, I remember having the problem you describe (not being able to launch the keyboard again) and found that the version in the repositories apparently had a problem when shutting down. I don't remember exactly how I solved it but I think it had to do...

no, Stretch is absolutely no option, but I'm gladly looking forward to someone who is more experienced with functioning virtual keyboards on Jessie :)

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

Follow my link to the blog page from Raspbian. A script would just save you a few lines of typing. Good luck and hope it works (for my setups it didn't really work :-() so I just started afresh. which link? about Jessie and Stretch? How often do I have to repeat that Stretch is no option, because o...

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

how to use the SD card for a SD copy is not a problem, I'm always doing that already, for copying all setupts from 1 SD of 1 Pi to the other and back and for backups. My question was about Dougie Lawson's post You may be able to pull the *.deb from Stretch and install it on Jessie. Pull the onboard ...

BTW, I use firefox.

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

how can I " pull the *.deb" from stretch and then "pull the onboard deb" from http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/pool/main/o/onboard/ ? how to install everything? How to update everything? I am a beginner, I have no idea about that and can't imagine what to do at all. Can you provide a .sh ...

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

I'm afraid I can't upgrade now, too many old program installations I even got pre-installed by a more experienced user a couple of months ago. Perhaps someone else might care about Jessie and shows a way to a working virtual keyboard solution?

As it seems, onboard is already a long time available - so there is no version which fits to Jessie?

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

I have no "official 7" screen", I have just a 13" HDMI TFT with a USB HID touch interface, and IMO that is not so exotic, I want to use it like a handy Windows tablet (the Pi mounted behind the screen, and an extra HAT or a T-cobbler for optional devices). As HID by USB ist probably a common standar...

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

Florence also doesn't work correctly, even after installing at-spi2-core additionally: either I get double chars when pressing just 1 key (touchscreen mode) or (in mouse) mode I can't use the function keys (e.g. alt+F4) and then have to use an extra external mouse. Hell, what a mess! Now which virtu...

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

Jessie is long in the tooth. Have you considered moving up to stretch? no, I have installed too many programs with too many personal settings, far too cumbersome and time-consuming to reinstall everything anew. (P.S, I also still use Windows 7 and partially XP, because of exactly the same reasons ;...

Re: virtual keyboard for touch screen?

there is no "Universal" thingy in the Main Menu Editor, and all available App groups are already checked edit: even though checked, the (German App group) "Barrierefreiheit" did not show up, and in there I finally found it (where I actually also didn't ever expect it as in Germany it's commonly used...

virtual keyboard for touch screen?

hello, for my 13" HDMI touchscreen with USB HID interface it would be very handsome to have a virtual keyboard to enter letters, numbers, and special chars. For windows this tool is installed automatically by the Windows driver of my touchscreen, but for the Pi I could not find something like that. ...
