Re: RS232 interface logon disable

Remove the "console=ttyAMA0...." lines from cmdline.txt, and also remove mention of it from /etc/inittab and /etc/securetty, this will stop terminals being spawned on it.

Changed the topic title. It is indeed unfortunate that we had to set things up to disable post editing after 30 minutes, but sadly before we enacted that there was a lot of issues with clever trollers changing their posts to make others look aggressive and rude :-( Common issue. Re: Starting the Pi without HDMI isn't possible after update

You can put the old "firmware" back. Its not real firmware, there is no NAND-flashing. Its just the binaries on the FAT32 boot partition. Simply download the older version from github (this is the whole point of version control...)

It does boot without video.

I only have a serial dongle, and use mine as a server. Its never been connected to any monitor, and still starts up

Re: Pi driving speakers?

If you plan on building an amp I would suggest the TDA2822M this is an 8 pin IC with 2 channel audio easy to build and good characteristics. Richard S. Input resistance = 100K according to datasheet, should be okay, but why build your own? The pi should be able to work with any well designed amplif...

Im having my pi input into my hi-fi amp and am getting a lot of problems. Basically, the pi's signal is quite clipped at anything nearing normal line level. I think im going to need to run it through a preamp first.

Re: Sudo doesn't require password authentication?

Dont edit /etc/sudoers directly. Use visudo or else it can get corrupted and wreak havoc.

Basically there is a line that something like "%sudoers (ALL:ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL" (that syntax isnt right, im remembering it off the top of my head, this is what you need to change - file is commented.)
