Re: Moderated blog comments: your input wanted!

Disabling the blog (and FAQ) comments would be the easiest solution.

We could still discuss about the blog posts inside the forum.

Re: Recommended SD Card Size

I have an image here (for the emulator) with Chrome (fluxbox windows manager) that is less than 1GB (I could probably strip it to 500 MB). I'll also need some extra space for cache and plugins, but a 2GB SD card would probably be sufficient.

The Raspberry Pi foundation should be able to answer your question, since they've probably done some reliability testing in some special ovens.

Re: Audio via HDMI

I looks like the R-pi sends the encoded audio to your HDMI TV, but it does not recognize the format.

You could try to play a wav or pcm audio files to see if HDMI works properly.

You may have to adjust some settings on the player to decode the audio to PCM.

I'm using fluxbox in Debian for ARM using qemu. So it will run. I'm just not sure if it will benefit from hardware acceleration out of the box.

Re: Microsoft and ARM

UEFI exists for ARMv6. The issue is that Windows 8 will probably only work on Cortex processor (ARMv7) whereas Broadcom BCM2835 is an ARM11 core based on ARMv6 architecture. It is also unlikely Windows 8 works on 256 MB RAM.

I suppose it would be feasible. But "Olympiad" makes me think this is a competition where you possibly have to finish something fast, and you'd most probably have the slowest build machine.

I understood that the player source code would be released and that it could be used as a sample to implement hardware decoding in other projects.

How is XBMC team doing to port XBMC to R-Pi if they don't have documentation or samples ?
