Re: Camera mounting info

Mounting the camera is an art for sure with the short ribbon cable. My cloud monitoring camera board is taped to the Pi's case and points mostly upwards.

Re: Software Defined Radio

I have already done this many months ago. I bought a usb TV dongle and managed to find drivers and software to run it on my Pi. My antenna was a wideband discone in the loft. In my rural location I managed to pick up some traffic. I am a radio ham I was able to pick up 2m transmissions and airplanes...

Re: Great Device - Poor Distribution

Added value is often offered by distributors. The Maplin Raspberry Pi package may seem expensive, but everything works well together. Horses for courses, I guess :)

Re: Cosmic Ray Detector

The Elector kit is the way to go. You can buddy up sensors to increase sensitivity and add a another transistor for alpha particle detection

I have one on order arriving soon. I'll let you know how I get on.

Re: CoIDE Suite

I built one of the original Gertboard Kits, that was a whole new experience for me with such small components to solder. It worked first time with only one minor problem, that I solved. I have recently bought a PiFace and an Embedded Pi. This hobby is wonderful. CoIDE looks good too. I love the vari...

Re: Raspberry Pi vs. Beagle Bone Black

I cover all bases and love my 3 Raspberry Pi's, 2 dedicated and one for fun. I also have an original Beaglebone and several variations of Arduinos. They are all part of pool of learning that I hope will keep me away or delay me from dementia. I am 56 years old. I have also ordered the BeagleBone Bla...

Re: No more Gert... kits

I got an email from UK Farnell last Friday, that Gertboard kits were now in stock. I followed the link to the site and went to order one. The site showed they were in stock. I tried to buy one but could not add the kit to the basket. Site said that item did not have a price. (Price was clearly shown...

If the delay is due to a clear case. Post the Pi already and send the case on later. Sheesh!

I ordered my Raspberry on 27th June my order number begins with 1010******
According to your table I should have my Pi by now!

I had an email yesterday advising a further 5 week delay? It doesn't add up!

Re: Weather Station now running

My WH1081 from Maplins does not have the radio clock module, but does keep good time. I am however looking to mod my weather station and control with an Arduino as a data logger, connected to the internet. Project 1 add a radio controlled clock.

The Raspberry Pi will deal with the rest :)

Thanks for your reply Gordon . Yes low power control is cool with the Pi . Above that may be danger and destroy the Pi. I am looking into a Pi fully isolated buffer.

I’m looking at MosFet or opto-isolation right now! I want to control many volts and amps. And maybe using relays. All options controlling many Watts!

Nostalgia

The Raspberry Pi reminds me of my youth and building and soldering a Nascom 1 computer back in the 70's . I added 8K of static ram and a colour module. Heady days and programming in Z80 assembler code and eventually BASIC. Wonderful days.
