I do not have required hardware to install Ubuntu x86-64 14.04 LTS and therefore go through the process, though do agree that offering an .IMG would gain a wider audience.
Building has also been (succesfully) tested on Ubuntu 16.04 and 17.10, but they don’t officially support it.

Re: When will Raspberry Foundation admit that the Pi destroys your SD cards?

I destroyed a couple of SD-cards and USB flash drives with my Pi’s, not just corrupted but really destroyed. I was running MySQL (lots of read/writes). Never occured to me to blame the foundation since a bit of Googling learned me that SD-cards & USB flash drives don’t like a lot of writes. Switched...

Re: Loose access to internet when I setup static IP

If this is all that was entered in /etc/dhcpcd.conf interface wlan0 static ip_address=192.168.0.215/24 then it didn't work. If you want internet access, you must enter a routers and domain_name_servers parameter also. interface wlan0 static ip_address=192.168.0.215/24 static routers=192.168.0.1 sta...

Chrome is not possible, but Firefox is ;)

Try going to the Firefox website instead of searching in the software center.

You can also write one of the two OS’s to a USB flash drive instead of an SD card.

(Or virtual mount it.)

Guys, I'm not a mod and I don't have a ban hammer but I also want to ask to please try and keep it on topic ... (What the others meant to say is that a Raspberry Pi is ideal to make clusters / learn about clusters, but you'll only be able to use software that is designed for a cluster.) No, it won't work. RetroPie is designed to work on 1 Raspberry Pi . Regarding the USB ports, maybe you did something wrong i...

Re: /etc/network/interfaces looks strange

The location has changed to /etc/dhcpcd.conf For a wired connection, you'll have to uncomment (= remove # ) the lines with interface eth0 and static ip_address=... and adjust the ip address to your likings (make sure to leave /24 at the end). Use sudo reboot to reboot for the network changes to take...

Re: Ubuntu image for the new Raspberry Pi 3 B+

You can't expect a single version (fork) of an OS that is 2 years old to get support for a new SBC in a matter of days. Ubuntu Mate will get the support eventually, don't worry. They are a bit 'slow' but at least they're LTS (long term support).

Try using only:

Code: Select all

interface wlan0
static ip_address=192.168.0.215/24

And then reboot ofcourse.

Thank you! The Arch Linux documentation you linked to explains this really well for me. Re: Custom terminal text (how to adjust?)

(I read about ~/.bashrc but the content of the file was exactly the same as it is for user 'pi' on a fresh Raspbian installation so when using 'useradd' there must be something going on that ignores ~/.bashrc. Any tips on this are welcome.) I found this useful bit of information on askubuntu.com : B...

Until now, I edited the name of user pi instead of making a new user and deleting user pi. But now I created a new user and deleted user pi and the terminal changed.
