Re: How do I share my desktop over VNC?

Thanks for the helpful responses. I got something up and running with x11vnc last night while waiting for my question to be posted, but I'll give the RealVNC set-up a try too. RealVNC is my preferred choice as I get to view what is being outputted by the HDMI port, and comes pre-installed in Raspbi...

to be able to use your $9 speakers... first you need a good DIY encolsure...then... 1. get the Pimoroni pHAT Beat, insert to your RPi's GPIO, attach speakers to the pHat Beat, load drivers, done. 2. get USB sound card and insert to USB port, get DIY amp (PAM8403 or better) with enclosures and access...

For your high temp problem, which also happened to me this is what I did. 1. installed a 25x25x6mm heatsink on top of the SoC, and a 9.5x8.5x10 heatsink for the USB chip 2. modified the official red-white case by making a square hole 26x26 mm directly on top of the heatsink 3. glued (yes just ordina...

Happened to me too

tried 4 different card readers on the same card, no effect

examined the microSD card itself, specially the contact pads, there was some sort of contaminant on the pads
cleaned the contacts with contact cleaner until shiny
popped it up again
works

Re: New User - Advise please on building a music server/player

Booting via SSD without microSD card in slot will definitely work, although as pointed out in one post here, polling process seems to be eating CPU time, so the current work around for that is to populate the microSD slot with a blank (either non-formatted or FAT32 formatted) card. A permanent solut...

Didn't even edited any of the configuration settings to connect those to the network/WiFi router. I used (and still usi...

Re: No SSH acess after Wifi Dongle install

Cannot SSH because the IP address of the RPi changed when you installed the new WiFi Dongle. Steps you can do: 1. If you can directly access the RPi via monitor, keyboard, mouse, run ifconfig to get the new IP address of the WiFi dongle (could be wlan1) 2. If you have access to your router, check th...

I have read that the Pi 3 will not power a SSD drive You are misinformed. I've successfully booted my RPi3B from a 2.5" 1TB HDD via SATA-to-USB3.0 adapter cable...HDDs are more power hungry than SSDs.... No external USB hubs were used. No problems so far. PSU is 5V 2.5A. Re: High CPU usage when booting from USB

Looks like there are currently two ways to avoid the card polling and high kworker cpu usage. Using newer sdtweak.dtbo from github issue linked above and adding one line to /boot/config.txt dtoverlay=sdtweak,poll_once This marks the slot as non-removable which disables any polling for changes. If I...

Just a few quick questions. Was that on a Raspberry Pi 3B or 3B+ ? Raspberry Pi 3 model B V1.2 ... and when you say 1 extra FAT or EXT4, do you mean that the Pi is creating an additional phantom partition on the microSD that was not there originally ? If so, that seems very strange doesn't it? I wo...

Re: Just bought a Raspi3B - can I just transfer my memory card from my Raspi3 to the newer model?

Upgrade from Jessie to Stretch, this took me 4 ~ 5 hours long for one RPi3B with 32GB microSD.

Flashing the latest Raspbian Stretch image then re-installing your favorite packages (if those are only a few) might save you a lot of time.
