I've added myself to the waiting list over at Event Brite. I missed out on the Cambridge one, so I'm hoping I'll get on this one!

Re: Raspberry Jam for Milton Keynes

If you're looking for speakers, I recently recreated 'The Great Cipher Challenge' on my Pi. This pitted my RasPi against Colossus in an authentic code-breaking exercise based on the German WWII Lorenz cipher. Of course, The Colossus Rebuild Project has it's home at TNMoC. The background is an inter...

Re: Pi in an Atari 2600 game

I have a couple of old cartridges I'm going to modify for my 2 x Pi's to go in: Adventure and Dig Dug!

If I remember, I will document the process and provide details & photos either here or on the instructables site of how to do it.

Re: Raspbmc Wireless Networking?

Just checked and the kernel you are using doesn't work with RaspBMC, only Raspbian. Use the one I linked to above and you should be up and running.

Re: Raspbmc Wireless Networking?

This was the version I used and got working

Sudo wget http://db.tt/i10Dt561

I listed my instructions on how I got the Edimax dongle working on RaspBMC in the Raspbian forum. PM me if you want any additional help.

Slice of Pi + XBee Pro S2

Hey, I have a Pi, a slice of pi breakout board, a couple of XBee Pro S2 RF transmitters/receivers and some Arduino UNO's. I've read that the GPIO pins have a max current draw of 40mA on 3.3v pin which is too low to drive the Xbee Pro S2 so I will need to sort out some alternative power if i'm gonna ...

Re: Raspberry Jam for Milton Keynes

I'll be there with my Pi. Hopefully I will have finished modifying an Atari 2600 cartridge to house my unit by then... Although I have only run RaspBMC and Raspbian, I have managed to get them both working with an Edimax wifi dongle (from Maplins) that runs direct from the boards USB ports so if any...

Re: WiFi on RaspBMC but not Raspbian

Also the wifi dongle doesn't autostart when unit is powered up but because hotplug is enabled, you can just remove and then re-insert the dongle and then the blue light starts flashing.

If anyone can advise how I can fix this autostart issue, i'd be interested.

Re: WiFi on RaspBMC but not Raspbian

Just to add, during startup I still get the following message:

Configuring network interfaces...rfkill: Cannot open RFKILL control device

But the blue light on the dongle starts flashing & connection is good.

Re: WiFi on RaspBMC but not Raspbian

The first should be the right one, but to make sure it has the right permissions use the command sudo install -p -m 644 8192cu.ko /lib/modules/3.1.9+/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ For psk password - quotation marks for plain text - psk="xyz", none for hex encoded password - psk=1234. Spot on, Im now...

Re: WiFi on RaspBMC but not Raspbian

With regards to the PSK comments, on some of my re-installations I have done both of your suggestions (remove quotes and type as hexcode) but I don't think this is where my issue lies. I will try with the different driver but just out of interest, should I put it in: Sudo mv 8192cu.ko /lib/modules/3...

WiFi on RaspBMC but not Raspbian

OK, I have a conundrum. I have 1 x SD running the latest Raspbian distro and another running RaspBMC. I have managed to get my Edimax wifi dongle working on RaspBMC using the instructions found at the bottom of this message, but the same method does not work on Raspbian. On Raspbian I get: Configuri...

I am successfully using Raspbmc on a wireless network. Have you got your wireless dongle working or is that what you are having trouble with?

Raspberry Jam at Bletchley Park?

Hi, Is anyone in the Milton Keynes area interested in having a Jam session at the computer museum at Bletchley Park - The spiritual birthplace of the computer? I'm pretty new to Linux, Pi, Arduino & Programming in general but if there is a group of like minded people nearby that are interested in me...
