Re: Aworking USB Hub ? Is there one ?

~~~~~I take the view that the IC that looks after the two USB ports and the Ethernet is temperamental in several ways. Certainly voltage but also there is a difference at Bash (Ping works OK) to when LX is working. So maybe the LX interface is upset for some reason when Bash is not ? A puzzled Tim.
Re: Setting up HDMI output
As far as HDMI goes I'm a complete newbie, so I'm likely to get lost in the jargon easily ! I have two LCD HDMI TVs, one a 19" Toshiba and a 32" Akura. I'm using Raspbian on a 16GB Class 10 SD card. The Akura does the video but ignores the sound. The Toshiba says "HDMI not available" but after twea...
Editing /boot/config.txt
I log in to Raspbian and 'startx'
wake up leafpad and load /boot/config.txt
change it and.....
it won't save cos I've not got the permissions.
How to I get to be the SU / admin/ Sudo here?
feeling credibly dumb here !
Re: Are the Gertboards here?
My attitude (I work in primary schools so I want it to be cheap as chips :) ) is that 1. Gertboard is great - does everything - costs $5 :) 2. Same as above but slightly more expensive :) 3. Same as above but too expensive - then we'll just go down the XXXduino route and produce cheap clones. :) I ...
Size of various partitions on SD card
I though fast and big is good, so I got a 16GB Class 10 SD card. On using the Raspbian image for the first time, it asked me did I want to resize the root to use all the card. So I selected that and rebooted. So now I'm very curious as to what size the Raspbian image normally comes out at ? Also wha...
Re: Aworking USB Hub ? Is there one ?
There are a lot of mysteries as to why 7 port usb hubs, on some Raspberry's stop the ethernet port working under the LX GUI (not from Bash / CLI using Ping). I've used a very well regulated 5V supply. Also fed the Power to the R Pi from the port and still the hub does not work. So a Belkin (?) hub i...
