Re: Pi4 Cooling
I may eventually be able to tell you, but my Flirc case is currently even further back-ordered than my Pi 4.4! :) Pimoroni has the Pi4 4GB in stock (actually they have all 3 flavors in stock at the time of this post). https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-4?variant=29157087445075 Okdo has...

Re: Pi 4 hangs on boot when 2 displays connected
Hi,The power supply came from an approved re-seller as part of a kit, so I hoped that it was fit for purpose. My intention is to buy an official supply just as soon as they are back in stock with an Australian plug. My first Pi setup (3B) was bought "from an approved re-seller as part of a kit...

Re: Continuity between 3.3v pins and 5v pins
You shouldn't be doing continuity checks between those pins. The voltage in your continutity checker WILL shoot your RPi dead (and may have already done so). I thought those things operated between 1v and 3.3v I think you're right, but I think that Dougie's caution is nonetheless justified. You sho...

Re: Pi 4 hangs on boot when 2 displays connected
I have just tried another TV this time a 1080p model I get a no signal although my monitor on HDMI 1 appeared with just the trash can suggesting that it may a lack of power from the HDMI output. I will try and get a second computer monitor and see if that cures the problem. Again on boot both scree...

What are you using to power your Pi? This sounds like a power supply problem.

Re: Pi4 Cooling
This is my cooling solution. :) pi fan.jpg Yep. Bottom line, the Pi4 needs forced airflow for cooling regardless of how it's achieved. Odd that the official Pi4 case doesn't accommodate. I would modify the first statement by saying: " If installed in a conventional case , the Pi4 needs..."...

Re: Run multiple python files on different machines via ssh with batch file from windows 10
I can`t run multiple python programs saved in multiple linux machines via ssh from windows10. I tried the following code. ssh pi@131.246.76.220 'cd folder;python3 example.py' & ssh pi@131.246.76.221 'cd folder;python3 example.py' The first line will work but it just stops there and won`t go to ...

Re: Pi4 Cooling
Flirc arrived today (one day early). Still waiting for my 4GB Pi4... First observation, no ventilation holes in the bottom like on the Pi3 model. Odd choice since the 4 generates more heat. Maybe they weren't effective since there are no vents in the upper case? I'll wait for my 4GB to test because...

Re: PI 4 Headless Setup
Set ssh by file, wpa_supplicat.conf for WiFi and then when booted use sudo raspi-config to start VNC and set the default screen size (I use mode 35) - the latter is a Buster quirk. Note first boot can take a fair time if you have a large SD card as the ‘disk’ partition is expanded. Thanks! I think ...

PI 4 Headless Setup
I am still waiting for my Pi 4, but I am hoping to run it headless, using VNC, when it comes (that's how I run my 3s). While I can, if necessary, temporarily shake loose a mouse and monitor from one of my Windows systems (and get hold of a mini-HDMI cable) to set it up, it would be easiest if I coul...
Re: PSU'S
Does anyone know of a good place to buy a power supply for the Pi4 WITH a switch? :ugeek: The official power supply has an upstream switch located just inches from the wall wart itself. The usual recommendation is to use this switch where possible. If you can't for some reason, the an extension boa...

Re: When are people in the U.S. getting their Pi 4s?
I think my first hard drive only had 20MB of storage, and you wouldn't believe what that cost. You might be surprised. One of the research chemists at a company I worked in that era got permission to add an HDD to his PC. He was given a budget of $1000. He was ecstatic when he found a compa...

Re: Autonomous Boat
The big picture of autonomous boats consists of two things: 1) Resilient PNT (Position Navigation Time) You should not rely on a single source for the position of the boat, the direction and speed of the boat, the time. 2) Situations awareness Is there something going on that you should take care o...

Re: Is the raspberry pi 4 still prone to gpio shorting?
Not one of these actions has killed any of my Pi's yet. Others have reported rendering their Pi unbootable, otherwise inoperable, or seriously over-heating, having done a variety of those things. You may have perhaps been lucky, though it could be that the evidence of any damage done has simply not...

I don't want to cancel an existing order (with Newark) that is supposed to ship in a week and then discover that someone else's web site has not kept up with their stock! Newark has no clue whatsoever when they will ship. They're just making up the "Expected ship date" at this point. My l...

Re: Pi 4 WiFi Troubles
The problem is that with 5 ghz disabled on the router the Pi connects to the 2.4 ghz fine. Turn the 5 ghz back on and the Pi will only connect around 1 out of 15 boots. It sees the SSID just doesn't connect. I also noticed when it does connect to 5 ghz, that the Pi indicates such but the router sho...

Re: Pi 4 WiFi Troubles
After much ado I have found the problem - 5g WiFi. Is there anyway to disable 5g or am I going to have to figure out how to block it on the router just for the Pi so that my other 5g devices can still use 5g? Could you explain your analysis of your problem in more detail? Your solutions seem somewh...

So Raspbian Buster has issues with Pip3? That's disheartening. I have had no problems with pip3 under Buster, and I have used it to install a number of my regular libraries on a number of Pis. OP has not given us much information, but he did say: "...I just installed python 3.7 on my raspi…&qu...

The usual question: what are you using as a power supply? Also, which connector is your screen plugged into. There are a lot of reported issues with a single monitor connected to the second HDMI connector.

Can you post your 'watchdog' python code?
Is there anything else on the Pi which is actively using the network and/or internet connection?
