Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

About disabling the splash screen. The instructions state: " Add a text file named autoboot.txt to the root directory of NOOBS. Add boot_partition=<partition number> to the file and save it to disk." I've only installed Raspbian. What's the easiest way to find the partition number I want to boot to...

Joe Schmoe wrote:To clarify, are you saying that the 9/23 version is the "gone gold" version, or is there a newer version than that?

I.e., if we are running the 9/23 version, do we need to "upgrade" (again) or are we "gold" ?
The only change is that the non-lite version now includes the updated Raspbian release.

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

I'm pleased to say that the v1.3 release has now gone gold (see http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/4959#comments). Thanks again to everyone for helping test. As far as I'm aware there are only the following minor known issues (most of which are possible improvements rather than bugs): - The data pa...

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

2 tiny patches based on building git-HEAD of NOOBS on a 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 QT 4.8.4 wasn't available, but 4.8.5. Unfortunately not at the expected URL so I downloaded it to /dl manually. I also had a missing header file, found it in qt4-linguist-tools. Is this based on Master or Dev branch? I thou...

We're looking into it. I can confirm that it definitely hasn't been compromised - it just looks like websense is giving a false positive.

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

is it possible to change the boot behavior? what i am looking for is 1. changing (enlarge or reduce) the time to continue the boot. What is the usage case where this is necessary? It is not user configurable unless you build NOOBS yourself from source. i usually used my RPi as mediaplayer (OpenELEC...

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

@rdb and @AndrewdAzotus: Just begun testing updated "Beta" (as opposed to "Beta-lite") and installed Raspbian, RiscOS & Pidora on a 16Gb Class 4 card. Kept language as "GB English" but selected US keyboard. This seems to be a trigger of Andrew's "French-ish" bug. When Raspbian booted initially "en_...

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

Something I had noticed during both sets of tests was that on boot-up/re-boot, detection of the shift key to enable boot into recovery mode did not always work. I suspect it's a timing/USB enumeration issue - the failure seems to occur when either the initial connection of the wireless mini-keyboar...

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

I bought a 16 Gb SDHC card today to start start beta testing NOOBS 1.3. I started with Raspbian (with which I am reasonably familiar now) and ARCH-Linux. I left the Language as English UK, but changed the keyboard to 'us', because in Australia we use $ instead of £ and hence usually use a standard ...

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

i grabbed the "lite NOOBS 1.3 Beta (of 2013-09-23)". i like the idea of an extra data partition very much. unfortunately i wasn't able to install that partition. the installation fails as soon as i click install (Raspbian, OpenELEC, Data Partition was selected / Lang:US, keyboard:de) but the instal...

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

As Rob says, there's currently a problem with their CDN (Content Distribution Network) There isn't a problem as such, it just takes a while to sync to all of the CDN end-nodes. I'm running another sync now so in <6 hours the following should be fixed: - Pidora size estimate issue - Data Partition m...

FYI, the CDN is now synced so you are guaranteed to get the updated NOOBS beta release.

Re: NOOBS v1.3 Beta testers feedback

I don't think the CDN has sync'd properly - I'm looking into this now.

The updated version should fix the blank boot selection screen issue.

I'm surprised that Raspbian did not pick up the keyboard layout change. Can you reproduce this?

OK. In the initial install screen for the network/lite version, I didn’t see the 512MB ext4 thing, which is fine. I can manage without. However, I left the language as UK and set the keyboard to US. and Raspi-config is now speaking to me in French! Although I'm in Canada and I speak some French, I’...
