Re: Removing Python 2.x ??

No in an educational environment Python 2 and python 3 are so different it is ONLY worth teaching the better version which is Python 3. Anyone taught in Python 3 is more likely to see Python 3 by the time they get a job and Python 3 is better structured easier to move to other languages from. Python...

Re: Removing Python 2.x ??

Well worked quite well noticed desktop has icons with no pictures but names left there (manually deleted) desktop shortcuts). Also some straggler bits left in /etc Note something like 100MB reclaimed from remove Python 2.6 and 2.7 , then auitoremove.. Especially as something that will never be used.

RPi.gpio v0.3.1a and Raspbian

Now probably being silly here, but gone through what I thought was install instructions (gunzip, tar, pythoin install), however get conisstent error. Using Raspbian and squeeze, trying to install when building the Python 3 install gives a gcc error of "Unable to find Python.h" So which dependency ar...

Have new Raspbian and this comes with Python 3 but for eductaional needs the install needs ONLY Python 3. Pointers required for where to find docs on removing all aspects of Python 2.x that work for Raspbian, so we can build a more streamlined image which only has what is needed for educational need...

Re: Python 3 Tutorial Help?

Would be easier to see what you are doing if you printed prompts before the input statements Seondly catch exceptions on invalid inputs and input ranges Thirdly a few lines of comments at start to say in outline what the code is SUPPOSED to be doing would help folks understand what you are doing. Pe...

Re: Easy GPIO Hardware & Software

Right, been a little busy with the Magpi recently, but I have been taking some time out to get some serious hardware playing done. This includes....an alpha-numeric 16x2 LCD display running off two GPIO pins....hopefully useful for debugging. Hopefully can get some more of the GPIO guides updated i...

Re: I2C programming

Does anyone know if the I2C on this processor supports high speed mode? It does 400KHz but not beyond. I2C is inherently not suited for high speed. Engineers have tried to push it past the 400KHz but that requires some nasty I/O pads. That is why, on my I/O expansion board, I chose to go for SPI . ...
