Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

Found this excellent tutorial after having problems compiling ffmpeg today Exactly! In other words, after conducting a series of failed experiments building and installing OTHER versions of FFmpeg – thus making a series of unknown and fundamental alterations to the very parts of your system that my...

i can,t find the script I'm honestly not sure why you would make that unusual claim. My script is right in the middle of my tutorial and is clearly marked by giant dashed lines in bold and blue. In fact, this is exactly what the beginning of it looks like: ------------------------------------------...

Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

Just signed in to say thank you so much. You are awesome, man! ;) ;) ;) Ah yes, I remember you – I helped you out on here about 7 months ago! So just out of curiosity, what inspired you to thank me so much just now? Is it because you recently "upgraded" from my original tutorial to my newly automat...

Re: STICKY: TUTORIAL: Update NOOBS without Re-Installing It (When Your Raspberry Pi 3B+ Will Not Boot!)

Feels like I'm on Stackoverflow. Flamed to death :? I just needed help from somewhere and being stuck on the same problem for 2 days made me desperate to try doing it anyway despite the old noobs. At least it's running fine now :) Believe it or not, I actually do understand the difference in ...

Re: STICKY: TUTORIAL: Update NOOBS without Re-Installing It (When Your Raspberry Pi 3B+ Will Not Boot!)

Well, at least my Pi is booting now... But, it tells me the following: "Error mounting settings partition. Persistent settings partition seems corrupt. Reformat? Yes/No" I guess it didn't work for me because my issue is from 2015 and has since lived on different Pis. OH GEE, AN ERROR – WHAT A SURPR...

For QML issue..... but I haven't tested it yet. I can tell you have some very passionate and specific ideas of your own. But as I'm sure you realize, QML and QT are never once mentioned in my tutorial or script. I'd therefore like to keep things focused and on-topic and not go down an unrelated rab...

Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

Fantastic work @RPi_Mike, I used to do every piece manually without a script. Thank you for your efforts. Could you please explain to me the differences between Full and Lite Stretch versions, and why it only works with the full one? The obtained libmpv could also be used in a Qt5/QML app, like a v...

@RPI_Mike, When I followed the tutorial and had everything working you had already reached the status of Rockstar to me Sometimes, unfortunately, even a "rockstar" must disappoint a fan with some bad news. [But] today because of a automated script gone wild and deleting most of my files and messing...

Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

Have you tried compiling ffmpeg with the newtek ndi support? Been trying myself and not having luck. But so far your script has been a huge help and time saver for me. Glad you liked my script! NDI didn't even exist until almost 2016. While it's true that a small number of bleeding-edge nerds are e...

Thanks a lot RPi_Mike! Great tutorial just got even better. There's a YouTube link also for Sky News UK, which I find works perfectly in 1080p on the RPi3. Thanks seanp25! I like the Sky News link you suggested and have therefore added it to the other news sources in Appendix 4 of my tutorial – "St...

Thanks for admitting you made a false assumption!

I can't say I'm surprised by any of this, however:

It's inevitable that a high-quality tutorial like mine is going to attract a variety of unprovoked and baseless attacks.

That's the power of jealousy.

You still have not realized that youtube-dl (for extracting the stream URL) runs about 4 seconds faster if you install it using pip. TO ALL THE READERS OUT THERE: Within the hour, I'll be posting a massive new update of my entire tutorial. I would describe it as "version 3.0". Re: TUTORIAL: Play or Encode High-Quality Video and Audio – with FFmpeg and mpv

My thought was that if the GPU could simultaneously decode all those streams (up to about 30mBit max), it should be easy for the CPU to grab a frame FRAME-GRAB TEST: You got me curious so I did a frame-grab test. I used the latest version of FFmpeg to extract JPEG images from a completely standard ...

In fact, I've never seen a physical CD player that comes attached with a numeric keypad like a telephone. Seriously? Admittedly I've only seen a few. Otherwise the direct track select option is on the remote control keypad for all players that have one (which is most of larger ones). Yup, seriously...

Audio CDs play great after the modifications detailed immediately above. Re: TUTORIAL: The True Nature of a Linux File – And its Timestamps

If you need metadata to stick around, you have to write it to the file itself. Anything not written in the file will go the way of Classic Mac OS resource forks, AmigaDOS file comments and the writerly intent of deceased authors. I have no issue with your excellent observations. On the topic of tim...
