Re: RISC OS Wakefield 2013 Show

The Apps icon is a bit like the Windows Start button - you install applications in C:\Program Files but links to them appear in the Start - Programs menu. There is a discussion going on over in the ROOL forums about how the Apps icon behaviour should be changed or removed, partly to avoid this sort ...

Re: RISC OS Wakefield 2013 Show

The Apps icon on the iconbar is a read only pseudo filesystem (called ResourceFS) made up of links to stuff held elsewhere: 1. Resources and applications (Edit, Draw, Paint) held in the ROM image 2. Applications held in the Apps directory on the SD card 3. Anything added using the configuration tool...

Only thing I can think of is TBA Software's TAG engine, which they did start to resurrect for new RISC OS hardware, but then real work got in the way :-(

Those suffering from NetSurf crashes when editing text areas (i.e. everyone!) will be interested in this message on the users mailing list: http://vlists.pepperfish.net/pipermail/netsurf-users-netsurf-browser.org/2013-February/011574.html I've posted this with the latest test version and have had no...

Re: gcc and RISC OS

Err, all that stuff about not starting the desktop is completely unnecessary. If you run a program from the dekstop that doesn't call Wimp_Poll, then it has all the cpu power to itself. The desktop will not be "running in the background" it will be completely stopped. That's why RISC OS could be goo...

Re: ****ing NetSurf

Sad to say that the problem with NetSurf crashing when cutting and pasting in text areas has been around for several years :-( I don't think PackMan has been setup to fetch the very latest development version, so you could try downloading that and seeing if things have improved. There have been some...

Re: Room 3.14 and the London RISC OS Show

In case it wasn't clear, projects being shown in the Pi room do NOT have to be RISC OS based, we want to see any cool stuff :-) Also, under 16s get free entry. And as if that wasn't reason enough to turn up, Eben Upton is planning to be at the show, providing the jetlag from his flight back from Kor...

You could do what the last London Raspberry Jam did - nothing! It had no agenda and no speakers, but simply said turn up with whatever project you've been playing with or any questions you have, and wander round talking to each other. It created a great atmosphere and they had to push people out the...

I don't know about Surrey or West Sussex, but the London jam should be within easy reach. Waterloo and Victoria stations are only 10-15 minutes away from the venue.

Went last night to the Rougol meet, excellent Glad you enjoyed it! It was a very successful evening, with the demo of setting up RISC OS going surprisingly smoothly considering the very alpha nature of the current release. but took an hour and a half each way and cost half a Pi Hopefully it was wor...

Ignore the keyboard warning, it is only complaining that it can't find a PS2 keyboard!

I'm sure that message will be removed by the time the RISC OS Pi build gets out of alpha/beta test.
