Move trash can icon from Desktop to a panel?

My Pi 3 is only a few days old but I have already tried Raspbian, Ubuntu Mate, Centos 7 and OpenSUSE. For various reasons I am focusing on Raspbian for now. As it is based on the LXDE desktop I have been reading the LXDE documentation which has been very helpful. I am down to a couple of tweaks whic...

A thing or two I am trying to figure out on Raspbian

My P1 3 is now 3 days old and I am having a lot of fun. I have installed Raspbian, Ubuntu Mate and CentOS 7 on my collection of micro-SD cards. Raspbian seems to hold a lot of promise. I am stumbling over a few "should be simple" items. How do I add a launcher to the panel? For example I wish to add...

Re: Backup tool for Rasoberry Pi operating systems?

Thanks DirkS, I guess I could do something like that. I have always kept my operating system separate from my data - going back to my Osborne CP/M floppy drive machine. I do the same on hard drive machines. Data is easy to backup. For the small OS partitions I have always done a cold backup using va...

Re: Raspbian Stretch - right click on desktop to bring up terminal - how?

Thanks B.Goode, That is exactly what I am doing. When I install a new PC/OS one of the first things I do is to add a terminal launcher to the panel in case I have something running which is covering the Desktop. At least Rasbian did that for me :D I have ONE CentOS 6 virtual machine (VMWare) which w...

Backup tool for Rasoberry Pi operating systems?

As a happy new Pi 3 owner - all of 3 days now - I am having a blast :D I have Raspbian, Ubuntu Mate and CentOS 7 installed on separate micro SD cards. On my larger computers I always make OS images once I have them configured and periodically after that. My tool of choice for the past several years ...

Raspbian Stretch - right click on desktop to bring up terminal - how?

I am new to the Raspberry Pi (just received it a couple of days ago) but have reasonable knowledge of Linux. I am used to right clicking on the desktop to bring up a terminal. Is there a way to configure Raspbian to do this?

TIA,

Ken
