Re: ALSA on Raspbian

@bryankemp
I can confirm that stressing the CPU (by executing:
time echo "scale=5000; 4*a(1)" | bc -l -q which pegs the cpu for ~ 85%) the sound quality stays constant for normal mp3s. Higher frequency (> 48Hz) files are very much affected, they sound worse then normal (which is not perfect).

Re: ALSA on Raspbian

@kadamski

Just tried with plughw instead of hw, works just fine (using a usb audio UAC 2.0 device)

BTW After making my normal user a member of the audio group I finally can use aplay -L / -l etc :)

Re: ALSA on Raspbian

I am using the hexxeh image and I am able to play with MPD using a USB audio device just fine. With the latest firmware and kernel it is now very usable, although there still are occasional crackles and higher frequency files (> 48kHz) are problematic but that seems related to Pi's usb driver/implem...

Re: continuing oops, how to catch it?

With the firmware and kernel from yesterday the pi runs a lot smoother. MPD plays fine through a connected USB-to-SPDIF converter while getting the files from a NFS share. Very nice improvement. I had to remove my keyboard, the system became very unresponsive. I booted with only the keyboard connect...

Re: continuing oops, how to catch it?

just had another crash. As a precaution I had removed the default overclock to 800Mhz. This time the crash dump stopped scrolling after a few seconds. After that mpd continued scanning files over the NFS share. I made a picture of the screen showing the last page of the crash dump. I can upload if n...

Re: continuing oops, how to catch it?

I noticed this in the logs (does not seem to do any harm): exportfs: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout Looks like kernel.img and /lib/modules are not the same version, and so modules won't work. Best to fix that first. rpi-update should do it. Thanks, unfortunately it seems my system ...

continuing oops, how to catch it?

I am using the Raspian Hexxeh image fully updated debian and firmware wise. Everything works great but I encountered some issues. I noticed this in the logs (does not seem to do any harm): exportfs: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout I am using a NFS share to my server. At first this wo...
