And since they are labeled as "Sensor Module Kit for Raspberry Pi" i would think they would use the same voltages as the "original" ones?
Well, it would only cost you $11.58 to find out ...

Re: mysqld.sock file is missing

Ok, well, this might be a bit drastic, but ... You can add this line to your mysql_server config which I believe is here: $MYSQL_HOME/my.cnf (I apologize here because I don't have a mysql server installed right now and I'm working partially from memory on the location of the .cnf file.) [mysqld] inn...

Re: mysqld.sock file is missing

Thank you The Traveler but sorry you have already over estimated my IQ. How's 'normally' different than what I am doing? Using mysqlcheck is more of a preventive maintenance device. The idea is to run it periodically and check the integrity of the tables in your db before things get too broken. At ...

Re: looking for help to tweet screenshot of a .exe file

What if I were to compile my program to be something else? Like an HTML app? Ok, grasshopper, your experience is mostly with Gamemaker on Windows which uses a "drag n drop" approach to game creation with very little actual coding. That makes your programming-fu fairly weak. As I understand it, you ...

kind of stupid of linux not allowing mysql to start with a corrupt database Not really a linux issue as the OS has no way to check db integrity itself. You can, however, configure MySQL to check database integrity on start up using mysqlcheck: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/mysqlcheck.html...

Re: My Pi 3 B+ seems to overheat REALLY easily

Well and good, thanks for the answers. A couple more if I may: I am using a different power supply. What are the specs on the power supply and is it attached via the micro-usb connector or somewhere else? It is normally running a basic message on the LED matrix. If you try shutting down that program...

Re: First kit cheap sensor kit legit?

The adage, "You get what you pay for" is as true with Raspberry Pi as anything else. There seems to be plenty of junk out there so you have to be selective. Frankly, given the cost of those items separately, that kit seems woefully under-priced to me. I'm not saying they are junk as I've never bough...

Re: My Pi 3 B+ seems to overheat REALLY easily

Ok, got to ask a few more questions so as not to make too many assumptions. Need clarification, do you have a RPi3 or RPi3B+? You mention both in this thread. Are you using the standard power supply for your RPi or something else? Did you have any overheating problems before you installed the hat? H...

Post your code and let's see how you're trying to do it. There are a number of ways to accomplish that task, but it's helpful to know how your script is coded to find a good solution.

Re: Overheating

I would put heat sinks on but I don't have anywhere to put them as I have a Sense Hat on my pi.
I have a an RPi3B with heat sinks and a mounted sensor hat. No problem with clearance.

Is your RPi overclocked or running in any type of enclosure?

Cheers.

Re: gpg errors adding ppa repository

PPAs are for Ubuntu and derivatives.
Not entirely accurate. One can certainly use PPA's with Debian and it's not an uncommon practice. The caveat is to insure the packages are built against the same libraries on both systems.

Evidently, the OP is having this exact problem ...

Re: Flask app on RPi

https://optimalbi.com/blog/2016/03/31/a ... hon-flask/

The example uses ubuntu server but this should work with any Apache 2 install. The libapache2-mod-wsgi module is the key to getting Flask to work with Apache. I checked and it's available for the RPi via your package manager.

Re: Can't get Thumb Drive to work, can I save data to my PC instead?

Ok, you really don't have to do anything with the file. I mentioned it because it had a list of filesystems it will automatically mount so you could format your thumbdrive properly by choosing one from the list. FILESYSTEMS="vfat ext2 ext3 ext4 hfsplus" But as you've got it working, no need to mess ...

Ok then, it's working as it should.

Where is your db located? Commercial server? Institutional, ie: school? Private? Being able to access your mySQL db usually requires some intervention on the part of the system administrator. Re: Can't get Thumb Drive to work, can I save data to my PC instead?

I wiped the drive just now, reformatted in FAT32 (before was exFAT). Now to figure out if it's working. Yep, it won't mount an exFAT so FAT16 or FAT32 work fine. If you look at this file: /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf it will give you some particulars on what file formats and mount locations Raspian ...

Re: Recompiling libpcap for C++

How do I call libpcap functions in my C++ program? Basically you call them using the "extern" keyword: extern "C" void f(int); is one way or extern "C" { int a(double); double h(); }; is another. Where is the libpcap library placed after libpcap is installed? It depends on the where the make script...
