Re: should I upgrade to the 3b+ ?

@W. H. Heydt, thanks I will look the post up! @bertlea, I had mixed results getting usb boot working on the older model, while back I followed a guide to flash something and enable usb booting but running noobs (and the other installer) from sd card wouldn't install to any of my external usb drives ...

should I upgrade to the 3b+ ?

few questions I wanted help with :3 is it worth upgrading from the pi3 for the minor performance boost the slightly higher speeds the b3+ will give ? (also if on a budget is the existing official 2A psu enough?) wondering about heat too, is the new spreader enough to make it not need additional cool...

Re: advice from anyone with case printing experience

wow I hadn't imagined I would get such great feedback, answered everything I wanted to know! then answered something I thought about asking but didn't post, I considered mentioning budget 3d printers and had previously looked at a delta printer as an option the MP Select seems even better priced. I ...

advice from anyone with case printing experience

Hello Im thinking of making a case for my pi using software and 3d printing it, I would say I am somewhere between beginner / intermediate when it comes to making 3d models... at least with the ancient 3d modeling software I used way back in collage but it the only thing I really know how to use. I ...

external boot questions?

on my zero once I figured it out it was pretty simple. 1 flash my pi image to whatever usb stick I had laying around 2 copy bootcode.bin from the usb drive and throw it on any of the countless low capacity sdcards i have laying around. 3 plug them both into the pizero and boot smooth effortless usb ...

Re: zero vs orange pi?

Please do not ask here about the Chinese alternatives of which there are several, the majority here would say spend the extra and buy a RPi 2B or 3B. With a Raspberry Pi you get a quality product, good software continuously developed and an active Support Forum as well as supporting a Charity.. I d...

zero vs orange pi?

got a pi3 it used/run everything I threw at it, it's great! can't praise it enough! love it. when shopping for the zero I had stumbled on a similar priced orange pi board boasting much better specs like around pi3 spec for zero price (its actually cheaper then zero with free postage) the gains being...

Re: Pi Zero W - No overvoltage protection?

Actually, no Pi has undervolt protection. Other than the Pi0/Pi0W, they have overvolt protection. This is one of several reasons why I discourage absolute beginners from starting with a Pi0/Pi0W. I would have to agree zero isn't good for beginners and not just for that reason. I liked the pi3 kit s...

Re: Newbie here - Just bought the RP3B - Retro Box

1)I think the machine will show up on the network but I think is something you have to configure show as a drive or ftp client / server. 2) I would try a different hdmi cable, some cables can give all sorts of issues. 3) I wouldn't mess unless you are seeing a specific game is really unplayable, if ...

unless anyone has better idea I would suggest logging into the router and making sure the name isn't hidden, also try it on a fixed channel rather than auto, also try different modes a / b and so on.
