Re: Adding an SSD

You should learn how to use CODE tags. It makes your listing easier to read: My SD card (running Raspbian) is 16GB. I have a spare 32GB SSD so I decided to use it for holding Raspbian (except for /boot). I followed the instructions in https://www.zdnet.com/article/raspberry-pi-adding-an-ssd-drive-to...

You should find your solution here: https://www.php.net/manual/en/refs.fileprocess.file.php
Look at the fopen function (Section Filesystem Functions).

Re: Mariadb Run as PI versus Run as Root

No. Not exactly. There is no mysql-server package for Debian/Raspbian Buster. You need to install mariadb-server instead (php-mysql remains php-mysql). mysql_secure_installation should be omitted. Login with sudo mysql then create database wordpress; GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON wordpress.* TO 'wpuser'@'...

Does it also delete some test database? The Debian packages maintainers don't install any test database. Right after installation: pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo mysql Welcome to the MariaDB monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MariaDB connection id is 47 Server version: 10.3.22-MariaDB-0+deb10u1 Rasp...

Re: Mariadb Run as PI versus Run as Root

mysql_secure_installation sets a password for root (this is the only thing that is actually changed by mysql_secure_installation) but the password is not used by the unix_socket authentication plugin. You would need to update mysql.user table manually (and flush privileges) to enable password authen...

Re: Mariadb Run as PI versus Run as Root

Read /usr/share/doc/mariadb-server-10.3/README.Debian.gz, section ROOT USER AUTHENTICATION VIA UNIX SOCKET. You don't need to run mysql_secure_installation. You may read it, if you are curious and then try to select the rows that the mysql_secure_installation would delete if they were there. Login a...

Couldn't imager also be used to write Debian with Raspberry Pi Desktop images to an USB drive? They are .ISO not .IMG format :? Re: Running Raspbian from USB Devices : Made Easy

You should not use usb-boot if your USB drive has more than 2TB size. You need a GPT partition table to use more than 2TB on a drive. usb-boot creates a boot partition on the target drive that may or may not be used for booting without SD card if your Raspberry Pi supports it. A boot partition works...

Re: Apache server does not see /media/pi directory

Did you ever think about not using the automounter? The automounter is supposed to make removable devices available to the user, who is working at the desktop. Therefore the mountpoint is created (/media/pi/... if you are working as pi, /media/marek/... if you are working as marek when you plug in y...

Der Raspberry Pi braucht eine Boot-Partition, die scheint soweit zu funktionieren, dass der Linux-Kernel geladen wird. Linux braucht ein Root-Dateisystem und das wurde nicht gefunden. Re: Raspbian buster

You could move the root filesystem to an USB drive. Once booting completed you can umount the boot-partition and do a clean install to a SD-card in the slot of your Raspberry Pi. Without a SD card reader you can only make a backup to an USB drive, e.g. with SD Card Copier. You need to enable USB mas...

So, why does the Users and Groups applet's authentication prompt window lists only two users: pi and root ? I'm assuming too, that you are using apache2. During phpmyadmin installation you are asked to select a web server that should be configured. The cursor is already placed on the "apache2" entry but you need to hit the spacebar to actually enable the configuration for apache2. Type ls -l /etc/apache2/...

If you follow this guide, the installation of phpmyadmin will be incomplete and a logrotate job will break.

Don't touch root@localhost.
