Upgrading to a new os remotely in never a good idea as the previous stated. I would just bite the bullate re-install the lasted OS image from scratch physically.

Re: unclear with bluetooth

Yes I did use blueman for bluetooth manager. Regarding the bluetoothctl, half of the commands I have no idea what it does, I am just monkey see, monkey do. :) haha. And sudo bluez-simple-agent hci# xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx doesn't work any more. Is sudo bluetoothctl hci# xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx the right to repl...

Re: unclear with bluetooth

Thanks for the reply. I am a bit confused about how to use the Bluetooth Manger program on the pi. When I try to pair it to my device, It never did ask me for my device id, but nonetheless It shows a connect serial port that allows me to connect to serial port, I did that and it connect to /dev/rfco...

Re: Swap space

I have come across a tutorial to run Spotify on my Pi 3. It recommends increasing the swap space on Raspian from 100MB to 2000MB. From my understanding swap space on flash memory is not a good idea. Is it possible for me to setup the swap on an external HDD? If so, how do I set it up? You could inc...

You really will not need any swap space. The Pi would never even touch it.
I disagree, since I increased swap space, my pi runs a lot better.

unclear with bluetooth

Hello, I just started learning to use bluetooth on the Pi First, I like the pi to send serial data to a HC-05 module on an Arduino, then the Arduino send back data to the pi. Because this is two way communication, which is the slave? the pi or the HC-05? Second, I downloaded the bluetooth manager GU...

Hello, I use the IDLE for python programming at lot. The thing I like about it is one could to select a block of code and indent/dedent properly and nicely with ease. But for christ's sake, why doesn't it come with line number option? Some times I think the editor designers never program a line of c...

Cool! I will try that when I get home. Thanks for the tip. The NOOBS disk supplied is 32 gb I believe, but I do have an external SATA drive (256 gb) and I am wondering if I can use some of that. If it's fast enough... If you have a 32g SD and you don't have too many other things, libraries etc. ins...

I would use any computer, download the SD formatter or use Mac or PC to format the SD card. I use Mac so in Mac disk utility app format the card to ExFAT, then install the Raspbian stretch with Etcher.

Re: Chromium keeps crashing my pi3

I think I found the solution. My pi 3 is hooked up to a 120GUSB hard drive, so I increased the swapfile to 2048. Ever since I did that, Chromium runs quite smoothly without crashing. :) To do this. go to sudo nano /etc/dphys-swapfile. edit the swap file size(CONF_SWAPSIZE) from 100(default) to 2048,...
