Re: My Raspberry Pi is dead
that sounds like corruption to me. i would pop it in another computer, pull off anything i wanted to save and re-image the sd card. Doubtful. At least in my experience. I can't think of anything in software that would cause what the OP is reporting. Except, maybe, an X server running without a wind...

Re: My Raspberry Pi is dead
@everyone What happens is when I connect my Pi to my LED TV (sometimes) I get the usual display from the Pi but if I pickup the Pi & insert a USB flash drive the entire screen turns grey. Its definitely not the HDMI cable coz I have tried at least two. What I mean is that a slight movement make...

My Raspberry Pi is dead
My Raspberry Pi is dead. I am not sure exactly what happened but I guess while inserting the the HDMI cable I used too much force that resulted in a hairline crack in the Pi's mainboard. I don't have the cash right now to buy a new Pi. I can't explain how disappointed I am by this. Just wanted to ve...

Re: Interference affecting RPi display
Yes its the Pi with a weak power supply. It seems like you have just answered your own question. Get a better PSU. Preferably the official RPF power supply. I'll go out on a limb here and also guess that you aren't using a good surge protector. Get one of those as well (one with line filtering - I ...

Interference affecting RPi display
Hi,
My Raspberry Pi 2 is sitting on my bedroom. The strange thing is when someone switches our kitchen's light on/off the display of
the Pi goes black for a second and comes back on.
Can anyone explain what's happening here ?

Re: Under-voltage detected
I when I run dmesg I see [58611.126996] Under-voltage detected! (0x00050005) [58665.207685] Voltage normalised (0x00000000) Can this damage the Pi by any chance ? Or is it harmless ? It is very unlikely to cause any damage to the hardware of the RPi board itself. But it is certainly not harmless: t...

Re: How to stream Youtube videos using youtube-dl and omxplayer ?
@gkreidl
The following worked
$ omxplayer $(youtube-dl -g -f best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqA7b4ba29o)
But it takes a long time to start the video.
I have downloaded youtube-dl directly from github.
