Overcurrent protection (resettable fuse), overvoltage protection, reverse polarity protection. Should protect it from most things except a lightning strike direct to the PSU

As far as I know "bricked" hasn't yet hit the dictionaries, and is at best slang, despite that page on wikipedia. So it hasn't yet got an official meaning. It could mean what you do to a camel to make it drink ... best not to go there.
