Re: Test Whether Raspberry Pi Has 512MB RAM

thanks.. you have quite a setup .. I went to your website.. I see you use omxplayer.. did you try it with gpu set to 32mb... it crashes when I set it that low .. also I associated omxplayer with mp4 and flv files so I can just click on them when under lxde... however I don't seem to have key command...

you used gpu_mem=256
don't you have to use gpu_mem_512=256
maybe it just ignored your statement?

let's see you still need a "device" to get to the "cloud" and that could be the pi... @$35 and all that "useless" hardware around everyone's house this can't be stopped .. this story is too good .. Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

they made a great firmware revision today #250 .. they really should come out with a new release of raspbian that incorporates this . fixes overclocking issues - for me at least fixes the memory model .. now can handle both boards .. gets rid of the multiple elf files and compresses the kernel img ..

Re: RaspberryPI keeps crashing

I just wanted to say that they made a firmware update today :
it is #250 and it solved my crashing problems and made my
overclocking stable at 1ghz!
the other thing it did was get rid of all the .elf files in the boot directory.
now it will size dynamically via config.txt .
just amazing stuff...

Re: Arbitrary memory split in RPi

firmware #250 - appears to do away with all the elf selection stuff.. seems like it is dynamic?
also the kernel.img shrunk to 2meg from 5meg? this would answer a lot of questions .. and make life simpler

since many of the "software" problems on the pi seem to be power related I wonder if the
machine itself can detect marginal PSUs and issue a warning message ?

I have noticed if I try and run wifi and ethernet at the same time it will freeze. Again in my case I don't know if it is a power issue or not.. headless with wifi only no hub and all is well .. running a Tenda 150 mps dongle w311m - min 11n - cost $9.99.. Thought I would get more throughput with bo...

boot messages question

hello,
I recently upgraded to the 9-18-2012 image of raspbian. On boot i noticed the following messages:
18.293171 bmc2835 ALSA card created!
18.317909 bmc2835 ALSA chip created!
now there were 7 chip created messages .. I did not get this before .. why
the duplicates?
thanks

It's "working" as you will see from my measurements .. but real world stuff like midori I get zero performance improvement... is the latency too large? something is preventing the governor from recognizing that it should switch up.. Re: How to access GPIO pins

hello,
I am a total beginner as to this area. I like the idea of reusing all my old stuff. To cut the 40
pin ide connector do I have to remove it first? .. Is there a danger that I could cause a short?
I would count 26 over from the red line correct?
thanks in advance
