Re: How to debug faulty connection to camera board?
Well in the end with the help of a logic analyser and a voltmeter, and 6by9 and others, I just discovered that somehow CAM0 data lanes were "corrupt" and by using CAM1 data lanes (and changing the Device tree blob accordingly), I can have it work again. It still baffles me why CAM0 lanes w...

Re: Typical timing of camera signals: confirmation?
Ok. Using 2 Data lanes and clock on CAM1 bus seems to work. Cannot fathom why CAM0 bus stopped working though. I just changed one line in the Device Tree file, saying: pin_define@CAMERA_0_UNICAM_PORT { type = "internal"; number = <1>; }; before it was number = <0>; and of course rewiring t...

Re: Typical timing of camera signals: confirmation?
Update: I disconnected from power the CM + Breakout board, and connected single pins (GND and 3V3) from another, powered, Raspberry to the breakout board, one single pin at a time. Then using a Voltmeter I checked that the voltage was as expected at camera board connector (the Hirose FPC connector p...

Re: Typical timing of camera signals: confirmation?
Thanks 6by9, So basically the problem could be in the 3 differential pairs signals? That the signal received is not correct or corrupt? I will double and triple check all the connections, even though I am pretty sure they are OK. But anyway, something MUST be broken since it worked and, after rewiri...

[SOLVED] Typical timing of camera signals: confirmation?
Hello, while debugging via a Salae Logical analyzer why my ComputeModule now refuses to get the camera working (it did for a month then nothing .. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=278738&p=1693475 I connected the camera (v2) to a working PiZero and tested the signals. ...

Re: How to debug faulty connection to camera board?
Ok, so the Gumstix is just a generic expansion testing board. What I am doing different from you is wiring the GPIO/CAM pins to a second breakout board and thence to a Molex 15 connector, so it should not ben that different. I know about the differential pairs.. but it seems to me that since they wo...

Re: How to debug faulty connection to camera board?
hi aBUGSworstnightmare, so if I understand you correctly, you also prefer something different for CSI connections? Did you design the PCBs yourself or are they available to buy someplace? In what do they differ from the Gumstix ones? But this does not solve my conundrum.. why i nthe world did I unwi...

Re: How to debug faulty connection to camera board?
Hi again aBUGSworstnightmare! as for the Gumstix board, I still prefer it to the official one because I plan to (and have already started) design a carrier board with custom ports, and so I need a complete breakout of the CM pins to do some prototyping. Among other things I don't need the standard c...

Re: How to debug faulty connection to camera board?
Hi msl, I know but I don't see an easy way to test a setup if not with spaghetti wires. Anyway it's a sound and nice idea worth trying. I've twisted the 3 pairs (see pic). Same result unfortunately :( IMG_4229.jpg Besides as you can see from this pic IMG_3208.jpg spaghetti wires worked even without ...

Re: How to debug faulty connection to camera board?
Just to update since I am quite desperate.. here are the pics of my latest setup, still not working. I don't know how it is possible that once it worked and now I doesn't anymore. I've also not touched the CM eeprom since then. The camera module works. Just tested on another raspberry Pi zero with t...

[SOLVED] How to debug faulty connection to camera board?
Hello, I am building a carrier board for the CM3+ connected with, among other things, a Camera Board. At the moment I am prototyping developing using a Gumstix breakout board that exposes all the pins of the CM to headers. Until last week it worked connecting the relevant pin of CAM0, the GPIOs pins...

Re: [Kinda SOLVED] Custom camera module for CM3+: cables and crypto chip
Hi MarkDaniels, that was exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for the info and the link! At the moment I've sent in printing some miniDisplayport components, since mini DP <-> miniDP are more widely available, but should the whole setup fail, I know I have a backup plan! On their site I've fou...

Re: V1.3 camera connector from board to camera
Just to close this issue: yesterday I discovered a phisical electronic shop in my city which held an original Raspberry V1.3 camera board! Unbelieavable but sometimes local is better! I so discovered that the connector on the camera board is indeed a receptacle. IMG_3868.jpg So I confirm that the co...

Hi,
well I don't have it right now, but I have ordered a couple on AliExpress. Since it will take a month to arrive I wanted to start printing a PCB in the meantime, that's why I want to be sure beforehand

Re: V1.3 camera connector from board to camera
Hi aBUGSworstnightmare, well found again. I've also found the project above, and I am starting from this exact same project and project. The problem is, the component is the DF30FC-24DP-0.4V. Looking at the data sheet the *DP is the header component. Looking at the footprint in the PCB it seems to m...

[SOLVED] V1.3 camera connector from board to camera
Hello, I am buying some (old?) camera module v 1.3 so to use for a project of mine just the camera component with the small cable (the one marked SUNNY). I know they are EOL (see my post here so I kinda know what I am doing. The thing I want to know, since AliExpress will take a while to ship the mo...

Re: where to find compatible image sensor (camera) for CM
Thanks 6by9, I had found them already on AliExpress. Try to understand me, it's a big leap going from Mouser or DigiKey to AliExpress :D It's terrible not having a decent datasheet. but the M12 mounting seems a little bit bigger than the stock one on the camera module, or am I wrong? But it's a nice...

Re: where to find compatible image sensor (camera) for CM
Yes, I suspected it.. but my reasoning is that for a prototype or limited run on IndieGogo (if I will be able to) this should / could be enough and then I will have time to find another sensor I haven't found a package that suits my need. Either I can find on AliExpress sensors+case with a long cabl...

Re: where to find compatible image sensor (camera) for CM
At the moment after searching on AliExpress, I've decided to settle for: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33013839591.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.4ac13c00IN9FRF&mp=1 It's a v1 camera, OV5647 (or at least that's what is advertised). It's very cheap and I plan to remote the image sensor + case + micro ...

Thanks,
it makes sense, albeit in a bit convoluted way. But this way it's highly configurable.

Thanks EETimo,
thanks for your offer, but for me a camera is enough. Can I help instead with your second camera not working? What overlay did you use?

where to find compatible image sensor (camera) for CM
Hi, I am building a custom CM carrier boar that needs an external camera. I would like to get rid of the camera board (reason here ) now that I am sure i can get away without the crypto chip. I've tried searching for a component called OmniVision OV5641 or Sony IMX219 (either will do for my project)...

Re: OrCAD Part Library for CMIO
Hi, I don't think you will ever find these components for Orcad in the Raspberry site. But exactly why do you need a library? The components are fairly standard, and (even though I've never used Orcad) I am pretty sure you can design your own components if you don't find them in your component libra...
