Hi,
Thanks for the info.
I’ve wrecked my knee so I can’t get around at the moment without putting my wife to a lot of trouble.
There’s nothing wrong with the installation as far as I’m aware. I just didn’t want to install something that would cause issues.
Regards
Dave

64 bit Os
Hi,
I have just set up an SDcard with the 64 bit OS on it.
It seems to run very well on my 4Gb RPi4
There isn’t much in the software catalogue in Preferences.
Can I install 32 bit packages such as GIMP or does it need to be 64 bit ?
Regards
Dave

Re: [SOLVED] upon reboot hostapd fails to launch as a service but can be restarted at a bash prompt
Hi,
Thanks Svetb, adding sleep 15 to the systemd hostapd.service file worked perfectly.
I tried the other fixes and the only one that worked was restarting the hostapd service.

I have a problem with an Adafruit 3.5 touchscreen.
I’m new to this Xstroke and touchscreens. How do you run an Evtest ?
I don’t have much spare time at the moment but if I get anywhere I’ll let you know.

Re: Musical notes in Python
I got it to work with the UnicornHat and SonicPi.
Unfortunately the movie won’t upload. It looks like I need to convert it to an avi file.
I was looking at SonicPi and saw the OSC option. You have to have SonicPi open and running an OSC listening script but it works.

Re: Musical notes in Python
Thanks guys,
On the micro bit I lit up a row of leds then played a note, then another row of leds and another note etc.
I think the rttl method may be the best fit.For this method.
If I get it working on the Pi i’ll Post it on here.
Thanks again
Dave

Musical notes in Python
Hi, I was recently playing around with micro python on a BBC microbit. Using some basic instructions I got it to show rows of LED’s and using the music library I got it to play the notes of the Close Encounters riff very simply by stating the note, octave and duration, i.e G4:4, A4:4 etc. I think th...

Official 7” Touchscreen Power
Hi, I have had the screen for some time now and it’s working perfectly. I just want to clarify something simple before breaking it :). According to the instructions, the power and ground should be connected to pins 4 & 6. Would it matter if the 5v was connected to pin 2 and the ground to one of ...

Re: Heatsink on the LAN Chip
I have a multimeter at work that measures temperature. I’ll do some before and after checks and see if there is any difference. I’ve made a fan that senses the cpu temp and varies the fan speed accordingly I got the heatsink in a pack of 12 at the Maplins wake. It’s a bit long but I’ll cut it down. ...

Heatsink on the LAN Chip
Hi, I have a RPi 3B+ and my case has a hole above the LAN / USB chip. It’s the black chip in the middle of the board just behind the USB ports. I know everyone says the RPi doesn’t need heatsinks, but would it do any harm to put a heatsink on it. I have a heatsink with a self adhesive thermal patch ...

Dead Pi
Hi, I’ve killed my RPI3B+. It was plugged in and working, I dropped a screw near it and it hit the Pi. The Pi shut down and hasn’t started since. Please don’t lecture me about covering the Pi etc. I know it was stupid and I feel bad enough :( I think it either shorted just the 3.3v & 5v pins or,...

Re: Adding a 5V Fan to a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and having control of it
Firstly, thanks for this info. I had a tiny 5 volt fan so I got the transistor, diode and resistor and set it up. The fan wasn’t actually up to the job, so it wouldn’t go below 75% speed. I bought a couple of 5 volt fans from Pi Hut and using the same circuit, I tried again. I hacked some code toget...

Re: Pi Zero test points
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the info proved the Zero was dead as the proverbial. I tried to update it the other day and it was dead. I had been running it from a phone bank. I tested the output from the bank and it never went above 5.03 volts so i’m not sure what killed it. It worked the last...

It may have been a typo earlier but you said the sudo apt install nmap command didn’t work. I think the command should be “sudo apt-get install nmap”

Re: Issue with WD My Passport 2To
I recently bought a 2Tb WD My Passport drive. Nor could I paste or move anything on to the drive. I reformatted it as vfat from the Pi ...

Re: Emergency Mode due to fstab
Worked like a charm. Thanks epoch1970. I had edited fstab and nofail was not in the line I added. I presume this was the reason for the read only boot up I was trying to add a new user and give them full access to any usb devices without adding them to the root or pi groups. This was just the last i...

Boot Issues
This is an odd one, but it may happen to others. I have two identical TV’s. I had connected a Pi Zero to one and did some configuring on it everything shutdown normally. The following day I connected the Zero to the other TV. It appeared to boot immediately to the desktop but was not really working....
