Re: placement of resistor in circuit

It is unclear to me how the circuit is done. I want to be clear. It is most probably the series configuration where it does not matter which side it is on, but I cant tell the intent of the OP.

Code: Select all

3v3 --- resistor --- led --- gnd
or

Code: Select all

3v3 -+- led --- gnd
      |
    resistor --- gnd

Re: Pi Zero W Wifi & Bluetooth Not Working

Did you upgrade or download the image from this site? I ask because 2017-03-02 runs linux 4.4.50+ and I saw "[ 0.000000] Linux version 4.4.34+ ..." in your dmesg output. If you upgraded I request that you do the following (unless someone else has a better idea): sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgr...

Re: Pi Zero

BCM2708 Boot is the message the pi gives when it is trying to boot via USB (not a usb disk but usb off your pc). This setup is a little more advanced than a SD card with a suitable image on it. Mis information, please ignore. I read your statement as "I am unaware of this and kindly request that yo...

Re: Pi Zero W Wifi & Bluetooth Not Working

You may want to type "dmesg" and see if any errors related to this are shown.

Maybe post a little more info, like exactly what version of raspbian do you have?

Re: Good Low Cost RTC

The Raspberry Pi doesn't read from the RTC while it's running The Pi can if you tell it to. There's nothing in those links that indicate that the Raspberry Pi is doing any RTC access apart from at boot. I am unsure why "it can if you tell it to" was unclear. But since it was let me elaborate. hwclo...

Re: RPi Project: Record and Forward Fire Calls from Scanner

You have a few components to make this work. 1. detect squelch break on the scanner 2. record the audio 3. form the email 4. send the email Squelch There are 2 basic ways to detect squelch status on the radio. The first would be to listen for silence vs non-silence. Depending on how quickly you can ...

Re: maximum practical length of ethernet (UTP) ?

Having some experience with this there is the standard and then there is what works. Some cheaper devices have shorter ranges on the same wire than others. The faster it goes the shorter the run as a general rule as well. So 10Mbps can do what 1000Mbps cant - especially with consumer grade equipment...

The Pi can if you tell it to. A kernel module is required to sync the hwclock and the swclock.

Hi, total newbie here! A student association I'm in is planning on building our own arcade machine to entertain fellow students during our pubs. I've got my hands on a Raspberry Pi 2 which is going to be the base, and as far as I've understood it's not that hard to set up something like RetroPie. H...

Its from 2014 and some older code does need to be tweaked to make it run now because of other changes but meh it should at least give you a start.

Re: Suggestion: Offer to change hostname on SD copier prog

That requires you have configured your DHCP and DNS servers to correctly map the new hostname to IP address. There is always bonjour which raspbian does by default (avahi). So the default raspberry.local can resolve even if there is never any DNS set up for the local zone. Bonjour is actually a nea...

In linux that would be easy. Re: Thepihut screwed up my order

The reason a lot of small business do not have phone numbers is they cannot cope with the phone calls, it's time consuming if it's just you and maybe a helper. And it costs more, you have to have people paid to sit there and answer the phones. Their salaries, the floorspace they consume, electricit...

Thanks for the timer suggestion, I had thought about that, but still am not sure how to do it. off the cuff and without thinking too much about this: Change your PTT GPIO to a strobe/off. Connect that to a 555 timer that holds the relay open for lets say 2 seconds. You strobe/reset the timer every ...
