Re: GUI and GPU acceleration, what's missing

Not a GUI toolkit, but here's a high-level graphics library built on OpenVG:

Re: Example program to draw random shapes using the C compil

A great source of information on OpenVG can be found on the Khronos website:

OpenVG Specification: http://www.khronos.org/registry/vg/specs/openvg-1.1.pdf
Reference Card: http://www.khronos.org/files/openvg-qui ... e-card.pdf

These should help your understanding of the details.

Re: The Go Programming Language on the Raspberry Pi

Dave Cheney has posted a nice review on installing Go on your Raspberry Pi. The posting covers initial setup as well as building from source (no need to set the GOARM variable now)

It was great to meet Rob at the HackManhattan hackspace. I even had a chance to show the OpenVG library (https://github.com/ajstarks/openvg)

Here's Rob discussing the motivation and progress of the Raspberry Pi: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ajstarks/8015089663/

The code is now MIT-licensed. Any form of attribution would be nice.

OpenVG and Go Programming Language

The OpenVG library at http://github.com/ajstarks/openvg now supports using OpenVG with the Go programming language. Here is the "hello, world" OpenVG program in Go: // first OpenVG program package main import ( "bufio" "github.com/ajstarks/openvg" "os" ) func main() { width, height := openvg.Init() ...

Re: Working tiger demo?

Ctrl-C works fine -- to a point. If you let it run for a while, it will continue to run, and then lock your machine. I'm running 128/128, no overclock.

note that running this demo may lock up your machine -- you cannot Ctrl-C or ssh back in.

Here is the Raspberry Pi self-portrait, drawn with OpenVG. I saw this too. You need to update to the latest firmware. After running rpi-update all it well.

Optimizing OpenGL initialization

The code on this OpenVG library: https://github.com/ajstarks/openvg/blob ... /oglinit.c was cribbed from the classic tiger demo. It works but I suspect it can be optimized. OpenGL experts: how can this be improved?

Re: Example program to draw random shapes using the C compil

@kulminaator care to share your code? Note that the code on https://github.com/ajstarks/openvg has changed a bit from the original.

Note that you may be seeing CPU vs. GPU limitations -- the time to compute the shape attributes vs. the time to display.
