Did you forward port 80 (http) and port 443 (https) ?

Re: Save hosting a site

Ah thanks, but why I it works then on my dual booted windows? But not on linux? I can not give you a definite answer because there are too many unknown variables: - Where do you do what ? - Did you specify a proxy server somewhere ? - What is returned when you do a dns lookup on your domain name (f...

The IP works (both my router and local IP), but http://robinsch.wtf isn't.

Okay my friend can access http://robinsch.wtf, but I can't. How to fix?

Re: Save hosting a site

It worked perfect, I got the apache2 default page. But when I changed the documentroot to my home directory, I get a 403 Forbidden error. You should not do this, this is a security risk (if you fix the problem). The problem is the ownership/permissions on your home directory. It is advisable to use...

Re: One year with fail2ban with port 22 open to the internet

Since its just yourself connecting from your personal devices why not implement Key-Based Authentication. It is simple to setup and not having to type a password is very convenient, especially on mobile devices. In the first post I mentioned that I have implemented Key-Based Authentication. Passwor...

Re: One year with fail2ban with port 22 open to the internet

Have you considered whitelisting the good IP numbers rather than blacklisting the bad? Maybe the list will be shorter. Whitelisting is not usable because the (initial) purpose was to be able to connect using a mobile connection from anywhere in the world. Instead port knocking would be a more suita...

Re: One year with fail2ban with port 22 open to the internet

Careful! Iptables starts getting flaky at around 27,000 rules. Learned that the hard way when my system became practically unresponsive with 99% utilization whenever fail2ban tried adding a new rule. That will give me less than three weeks to go .... Btw. if that happens I will make a change ...

Re: One year with fail2ban with port 22 open to the internet

I forgot to mention that I installed geoip, however I have not updated the the address tables for a long time. A little bit of fiddling with the iptables entries shows the following: pi@raspi4:~ $ sudo iptables -L INPUT -v -n | grep geoip | grep 'M ' | sort -r -k 2 | cut -c1-12,90- 1309K 82M -m geoi...

Re: Someone has installed DyndDns?

The problem is NOT with the router, the problem is with the network, some networks it may work, other networks may not work. The simple way to check the network is to find the IP-address assigned to the router and the IP-address identified with WhatIsMyIp, if these are not the same then you are conn...

Quickly flipping a Pi4 plastic case off its easy to work out which is hdml0 and hdmi1. With the Argon1 case this one is a major strip and I didn't want to disturb things.
The answer is in the documentation on page 2, labelled 06 for HDMI0 and 07 for HDMI1.
HDMI0 is located under power button.

I have a 4G touter NETGEAR AirCard 785..

By dyndns (dyn) I created an host, and I install ddclient on My Raspbbery Zeor W with Buster.
It is very likely that this can NOT be successful with a 4G connection because of Carrier-grade NAT

Thanks for pointing out the thread from last November. I had not read it previously. I'm curious to know if the SD-interface on the Raspberry Pi 4 can run at 104 MHz or not. If not then I'm curious to know where the hardware limitation is that restricts the clock frequency to 50 MHz. Why ? https://...

Re: Buster Lite: Odd Network Behavior and "No Route to Host"

Very likely is this caused by "wifi client isolation" on the WiFi access point. There are a number of terms used to describe this feature: "IP isolation", "wireless isolation", "client isolation". What it means is that WiFi clients are isolated on the Access Point network and can not communicate wit...
