Automatically open an application at startup

Is there some way to make a program / application to automatically open at startup?

Let's say for example, the tuxpaint will automatically open once the raspberry pi boot to the desktop screen.

Thank you in advance.

Sign of SD card malfunctioning?

I use a 64 GB SD card. The Raspbian OS is running fine. However there are quite some bugs that I encounter always : 1.) The sub window that will pop up when you connect a flash drive always pops up twice. So when I click okay in one window, the other window is still up. 2.) There are tendencies that...

Desktop Icon text color

On the Desktop or Appearance settings, I can only see the change color of text for the menu bar and for highlighting an icon.

How can I change the desktop Icons' text color? Can't seem to find in the settings nor search for it on google. Thank you.

Over Temperature Warning

I experienced it in 2 occasions : 1.) I connected an old projector and used 3 of the USB port. 2.) I connected a flash-drive. Maybe a coincidence but in those 2 occasions, the temperature goes over 80 C. (The room is just at normal temperature those times.) On what situation or tendency makes Pi 3's...

My project includes the use of an Infrared Camera, "Pico" projector and the PI. When using the projector as video output, the aspect ratio is 16:9 and resolution 1280 x 800 @ 60 Hz. How can I change the resolution to 4:3 as on the display menu / settings the resolution is automatic. I need to change...

Re: Powering up Pi 3 using a power bank

Been a while since this thread has been created but I finally got to try my power bank to power up my PI. (10000 mAh, 5V & 2.1A output), The PI powered up, however with the thunder symbol on the upper right of screen. With just a couple minutes, the PI automatically shutdown. Though the power bank i...

Package Allocation

Usually when you download a package, it will be allocated in one of the category under the start menu. Ex : Education - Tux Paint Accessories - Xournal Programming - Fritzing I have downloaded a couple of packages and it bugs me that I can't see them in the start menu and the only way to open them i...

Looking for : Draw over your desktop package

I am looking for a package in which has the ability or feature to draw, sketch or annotate over the desktop screen. A program which allows me to draw over any other program. (Example: I can circle or highlight a certain word in a presentation slide.) I have tried Ardesia but it is full of bugs hence...

Re: Powering up Pi 3 using a power bank

My Raspi3 works fine with an Anker 10000 mAh power bank. Some power banks auto switch off if not enough current is drawn, because they assume the attached device is fully loaded. This could be an issue, but in my case, Raspi draws enough current. My power bank does auto power off when loaded, i.e. ...

Powering up Pi 3 using a power bank

I do think it is possible but what are the advantages and disadvantages of powering up the Pi 3 with a power bank? I have one here with 10000 mAh, with 5V and 2.1A as output.

Thanks in advance.

Re: How to annotate wirelessly from a tablet into a computer

You need to run a VNC server on the Pi and a VNC client on the tablet. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/remote-access/vnc/README.md There should be dozens of VNC clients in the App store. A notetaking app i've used in the past is xournal. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install xournal Th...

Which package and which instructions? We are not mind readers. The use of "go" suggests that you might need the "go" language installed. If the instructions don't tell you to do that I'm not sure how good the rest of them are. https://github.com/akhenakh/gozim This is what i've been trying to insta...

How to use "go get" command in terminal?

As part of the package installation instructions, this line must be typed in the terminal:

go get -u -v -tags all github.com/blevesearch/bleve/..

However, the terminal states that the go command is unknown. So how to use go get command?

Base from my experience, this happens when you update / upgrade your Raspbian version and failed at installation. Just re-install the image (raspbian) in the sd card.

I have downloaded 3 packages: Ardesia, Kalgebra and Galculator. The ardesia shows in the menu while the other 2 don't and can be only seen through the add / remove packages to know that it is installed in the system.
