Force Raspi-config to run at next boot

I am working on making a distro spin for Raspi and I would like to be able to distribute the image so that raspi-config is set to run at the first boot, like in Rasbian.

So, uhh, how would on go about doing so?

Re: how do you hide all the boot text?

This isn't windows! Linux is not "backwards". Distribution that run on the RasPi are still in their infancy, and still under development. Most people want that text. If you want something that is super pretty, Ubuntu 12.04 (only for your desktop computer) has none of the text. However it is mature a...

Re: new to this code stuff.

Honestly I would recomend Python 3 the most. It is avaialbe free! http://www.python.org/ Here is their website where you can download it. Why Python? It is one of the easier languages to learn and it is very powerful. Furthermore it is pretty easy to interface with the GPIO if thats something you ar...

Input from web help

I am not completely new to input from the web. I recently built a website to feed my fish from a website using an arduino. http://www.grovercam.com . In that project an HTML button activated a php script that ran a BASH script that sent command to my Arduino. I would love some way above and beyond h...

GPIO output from "Monkeys with Typewriters" expiriment

Recently I was sitting around looking at my RasPi and I was thinking, dangerous thoughts. "Given a long enough timespan, a room full of monleys with typewriters will re-create the entire works of William Shakespeare." So I wrote a piece of Python code that uses the RasPi like a monkey in a room with...

I would recommend the Leonardo.

It is very similar to the Uno and the same price, but:
1 It can mimic a keyboard
2 It has more IO pins

If you have been trying to login from slim and have been getting a black screen with a white curser, i have SOLVED the problem. In the DAEMONS section of your /etc/rc.conf you need to have slim AND dbus slim will not work without dbus. from the black screen with the white x or from the slim login ty...

Re: Complete New User Getting Stated Guide

Awesome guide, but GParted-ing after flashing seems like a waste of write cycles to me. Well you gotta resize the SD Card somehow, unless you are cool with only a 2 gig system. There are ways to increase size inside of the Arch install, but GParted is way easier and works the same. Did some more re...

Re: 5V Regulator (battery powered)

I don't see why that wouldn’t work, might be a bit expensive though. I'm just a hobbyist and i might be wrong, but the lm340 here. http://www.futurlec.com/ICLinearRegulators.shtml Might serve you well for a fraction of the cost. If you build it with a cap in line to filter out high spots in the curr...

Re: Complete New User Getting Stated Guide

Thanks for all the comments, i have edited the guide accordingly. I plan on doing a fresh install one night this week, to double triple check everything. There's stuff for the wheezy image on the wiki that's aimed at noob users. True, but the sooner we can get noobs using Arch and actually learning ...

Generally I prefer Aptitude over apt-get (you will need to install it). It is a more powerful front end to apt-get.

Code: Select all

sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude full-upgrade

Re: Installing Linux

No worries! Now buckle your seat belt this is going to be long. When you run a program like Debian from a virtual box, your computer is still ALL windows. virtual box makes a fake computer that you can install things on inside your windows environment, this is very easy and very low risk. in full sc...

Re: How to setup a MicroNEXT MN-WD552B wifi adaptor

Hate to say, did you try the obvious and just plug it in? It might have support in the kernel and then only need to be configured like with something like wicd-curses ? Otherwise you will prolly have to download the windows driver and use ndis wrapper and wpa supplicant to set it up. Ive attached so...

Re: Installing Linux

The best place to start would be with a similar distribution to what you will put on the Pi. Since you are a first time Linux user you probably want Debian. http://www.debian.org/ It is pretty easy to install, and you can either dual-boot (have both Windows and Linux installed ont he laptop) or use ...

Re: Hasty noob in Arch Linux trouble

You have made no mistakes, other than being hasty. Arch linux is a distribution aimed at users who know what they want and are willing to build it from the console up. It does not come with a GUI by default you have to choose and install your own. startx did exactly what it is supposed to do, nothin...

If you are using DD to put a new image on the SD Card, you don't need to format. DD will format For you. Then when you resize the partitons that will effectively format the entire card.

I have been able to run Tie Fighter (1994) under DOSBox. Using the MAX settings and a frame-skip of about 4. In-game settings pretty low. I am running Arch. Overclocking as follows: cpu=900;ram=500;gpu=300 All that said, Tie Fighter is slow (playable-ish). It is no-where near what I can get on my la...
