Re: Big Project with Raspian

Look at "man 5 passwd". You can replace the shell parameter with something that runs your desired program directly.

Re: Wi-Fi on Jessie 2017-04-10 no connection

If I understand this right, you are configuring the long range adapter as an AP?

If so, check to see if the mode is supported. Does 'sudo iw list' show 'AP' in the list of 'Supported Interface Nodes'. You'll see that the internal Wifi has that entry.

Re: Network Manager can't handle wifi connection

The wifi interface must not be referenced in /etc/network/interfaces, or else NetworkManager will not manage it. Except when managed=true is set in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf as the OP shows has already been done. TIL... In terms of OP's problem, the Comitup (Raspbian plus the 'comitup...

Re: Help bridge eth0 to wlan0, not Wifi hotspot, Pi 3, Jessi

The DHCP on the Ethernet port needs to publish, as the default gateway, the IP address of the Pi's Ethernet Interface.

The default gateway for the Pi needs to be the remote gateway address for the wifi interface.

Re: Help bridge eth0 to wlan0, not Wifi hotspot, Pi 3, Jessi

I've done this exact thing in a hotel room. Per the referenced post, you need a dhcp configuration that includes a default route through the Pi, ip_forwarding enabled, and an iptables POSTROUTING masquerade rule.

Note that this is not bridging. That would also solve the problem, but a different way.

Re: SSH on Raspberry Pi Zero W

Two things: 1 - You need to be using the latest Raspbian image for the Pi Zero W - the one dated "2017-03-02". Wifi didn't work properly for me using the previous image. 2 - I've got a modified Raspbian image that supports headless wifi configuration and ssh out-of-the-box. https://davesteele.github...

Re: SSH not responding after a while on Pi Zero & Zero W

When I have this problem, the first thing I check is the MTU settings. Does it freeze the first time you try to dump a large amount of data (e.g. "cat <big file>")?

If not, nevermind.

Re: raspberry pi 3 without ethernet cable

The Comitup boot image will let you connect your Pi 3 to your wifi remotely, without editing the SD card or using any wires on the PI (except for the power cord). It is a Raspbian image with packages included to manage wifi connections via HTTP. https://davesteele.github.io/comitup/ Per the recent P...
