Re: wolfram raspi-pi 2 - a deal!

I notice two things. First, a bug. In about, it says the version is 10.0.0.0. But in system information, it says 10.0.2.0 (the recent Feb 3, 2015 one), which is also what the variables say. Presumably the about box should say 10.0.2.0 as well. At any rate, I appear to have the fixed version. Second,...

Re: wolfram raspi-pi 2 - a deal!

I am a new Mathematica user learner. So far I haven't been as impressed with the performance as I was expecting. I will have to verify that I have the fixes which let me use multiple kernels, I hope the performance I'm seeing now on RPi 2 can be improved.

Re: Image Processing Quite Slow

Is Mathematica only one core on the RPi, or on all computers? If it's an artificial RPi limitation, I'd suggest that while they might limit to 1 core for basic computation they should allow all 4 cores for image processing , because otherwise it's unusable. You couldn't use it to process images from...

Re: DominantColors hanging?

OK hold on, I tried it and just left it, it did finish the computation but it took something like 5 minutes at least. This is on a Raspberry Pi 2. That is a long time. :-(

DominantColors hanging?

I have a small-ish (1280x720) image loaded and I can do stuff with it (like ImageAdjust).

However if I try to use DominantColors, it just seems to hang.

Advice?

ImageCapture not supported?

I have a webcam connected, it works with fswebcam. I googled around for how to capture an image in Mathematica. Seems ImageCapture, CurrentImage, and the like work. Except, I get this: ImageCapture::notsupported: Image acquisition is not supported on Unix. If I google around, it seems that goes back...

Re: Raspberry Pi Webcam problem

I've only an hour experience with webcams on RPi, but I did get my Xbox 360 cam (the little white one) working. It's finnicky, I keep having to unplug and replug the USB to keep it working. So try that (unplugging and replugging).

Re: Browser rather crashy

I updated, and it's still crashy. This is not a reasonable experience, if you want to reference some pages while doing things in the terminal or in Scratch or Mathematica. Hopefully browser stability will improve, buy I'm curious why it should be so crashy in the first place.

Image Processing Quite Slow

Hi, I am trying the image processing examples from this late 2008 blog post: http://blog.wolfram.com/2008/12/01/the-incredible-convenience-of-mathematica-image-processing/ My image is only 640x480 so quite small. I am on a RPi 2. I notice even the simple example of manipulating contrast/brightness i...

Thank you I will update. It's indeed Epiphany I have been using, just whatever came in that Feb 2015 Raspian image.

Browser rather crashy

I just dug out my RPi model B rev1, flashed it to 2015-02-16 Raspbian, and also tried that OS on a brand new RPi 2. In both cases, it's the OS from the image, not updated. I have been using the browser to catch up on what's new in Pi-land. I've had one since mid-2012 but not used it much, I didn't e...

SDL 2.0 on Pi?

Is anyone going to be porting SDL 2.0 to Raspberry Pi?

It's near release, as the developers are basically only fixing release critical bugs now, so it would be a perfect time to get started.

Re: SDL and OpenGL ES

I'm trying to do the same thing: use SDL for input etc., but GLES2 for video. Is there a simple boiled-down HOWTO for how to do this, so I don't have to troll through a lot of links to piece it together? I have some other porting to focus on, I'd like to get this boilerplate out of the way as painle...

I have the keyboard issue too (stuck keys, dropped letters, inconsistent repeats). Tried several keyboards. Am using good (1A) tablet charger and powered USB hub.

ASUS USB-BT211 Bluetooth Dongle

I ordered one of these, should arrive in a day or two. I have been trying to ascertain whether it will work with the Raspberry Pi (Wheezy distro). I believe it's an Atheros chipset, not Broadcom. But I've been reading that Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) is the best chipset to use with Raspberry Pi. D...

I also have an Apple Wireless (Bluetooth) Keyboard, and a Microsoft bluetooth mouse. I'm interested in using both with the Raspberry Pi. Is there a specific model of Bluetooth USB dongle I should be looking to purchase? Or will any work?

Re: Best first language

As a professional programmer who knows a lot of programming languages, I believe Lua (www.lua.org) would be an excellent language to start with. It's simple, small, modern, procedural, and close enough to JavaScript and ActionScript to be relevant. With LÖVE (www.love2d.org) newcomers can make inter...

Re: Pygame

LÖVE (www.love2d.org) would be an excellent choice, for ease of use and learning. It uses Lua not Python, which is a much cleaner and simpler programming language. I have finally received my Raspberry Pi and am looking to do some LÖVE programming for it. I understand LÖVE does run, if built. It woul...
