Re: How to set WiFi on headless pi

Has anyone ever tried setting up a simple system using WPS on a Pi?

You might only need a pushbutton (on the GPIO?) and a software utility? - or haven't I thought this through properly?

Re: Avoiding 100% CPU usage

Make a NOP loop that does nothing for a millisecond or so, and call it each time before you poll the GPIO pin?

Or learn about interrupts?

I, like you, have used the DHT22, and found it a bit rubbish. I was directed to the Bosch BME280 sensor as a much more reliable I2C temp/humidity sensor replacement: Datasheet: https://www.bosch-sensortec.com/products/environmental-sensors/humidity-sensors-bme280/ eBay source: https://www.ebay.co.uk...

Re: Raspberry Pi 400 3,5mm jack

I have some 5in HDMI touchscreens (£45 from Amazon) and some 7in HDMI touchscreens (£55 from Amazon) and BOTH have 3.5mm audio out. Admittedly, this seems an inefficient way to get 3.5mm audio out for a blind user's application, where a screen is not actually needed, but I'm not sure the OP mentione...

Not *quite* the only options...one could use Bluetooth attached speakers as an option.

Make sure your wpa_supplicant.conf file used straight double quotes:
" "

and NOT curly quotes:
“ ”

Various word processors (or even text editors) often try to be "helpful" or "pretty" when entering double quotes.

I just set each device I want to use pihole on the device, that leaves some able to receive adds as required.
An alternative is to run the Pihole-controlling browser extensions in a browser or two, which can disable Pihole temporarily for when you DO want to view ads.

Would it make any difference to have the Raspberry Pi 3B+ to be wireless or Ethernet connection for a pi hole? Either will work. I prefer, and use, wired Ethernet. Wired guarantees your Pihole is connected to YOUR LAN. Is it necessary to have the pi hole to be set up as a DHCP?! No. As in the docs ...

Re: Recommended inexpensive monitors?

And don't forget: if you buy an HDMI monitor or TV with HDMI input - it usually includes built-in speakers, which you probably want as well.

If you use a monitor with DVI-input, it will work as a screen display OK (from the HDMI output of the Pi, with an adapter) but you WON'T usually get speakers.

If your Pi and iPad are both connected to the same home network (via wifi or wired Ethernet) then you can either: - run a terminal app on the iPad to control the Pi via its console over SSH, or - run VNC on the iPad to control the Pi via its desktop. No dongles required! (although many Pi models hav...

Re: AUX in RPi4 won't work for me

How many contacts on the 3.5mm plug of your earbuds?

If it's four, you may need an adapter. If it's three, then it should be OK.:

Edit: MY LINE BELOW NOT TRUE:
The Pi's 3.5mm audio out socket is just three connections: GND, L, R
ABOVE LINE NOT TRUE!
