avrsetup not working anymore?

I recently bought some fresh atmel 328s avrsetup returned this [email protected] ~ $ avrsetup Initialising a new ATmega microcontroller for use with the Gertboard. Make sure there is a new ATmega chip plugged in, and press .. 1 for an ATmega328p or 2 for an ATmega168: 1 Initialising an ATmega328p ... a...

Re: EMC2 RPi Hybrid hack?

I have started a fresh thread Re the ecklersoft dongle, rtstepperemc software, with a brief initial "How To" to compile the rtstepper software
I will post related stuff here from now on

rtstepperemc CNC for RPI

Found this recently http://www.ecklersoft.com/ Looks like it could provide a basic CNC solution for the Pi without the need for a realtime kernel. 4 stepper axis and three input lines Briefly it is a usb dongle device with a PIC microcontroller doing the realtime thing with a cut down version of EMC...

Re: EMC2 RPi Hybrid hack?

It would seem that this concept has already been done with a PIC chip: It is a USB dongle device providing realtime motion without the need for a realtime kernel IE a cut down front end of EMC2 - linuxcnc driving a microcontroller (Not the Atmel though) and is available here http://www.ecklersoft.co...

Re: Minicom problem with AVR?

Well, a fudge/ workaround... Slowing the datastream (Serial write) from the AVR to, say, 200mS, reduces the incidence of corrupt display and reduces the cpu load. To reduce the cpu load further, if the terminal screen is is reduced in height to its minimum (80x2), then the cpu load can be reduced to...

Re: Minicom problem with AVR?

Yes, I also confirm that I was using 9600 I could prob slow up the data flow from the AVR, to reduce the cpu load on the Pi, but.... The main prob of corrupt data display on Minicom is a bit of a pain, currently about 50/50 odds of getting a readable result. Thanks for the input chaps, reassuring to...

Minicom problem with AVR?

I have followed the "Gordons guide" for the Arduino IDE and all works well except the serial Minicom? Or perhaps it is not working as I expected? I often get , for example with "Analog In, Out Serial" A seemingly corrupt output/display with cpu at approx 25% ( bargraph) ÉɁõÕÍÙ%ÕÑÁÕÑՁõÅÍÍ5)͕...

Re what I said here.. http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=1800&start=225 Thought I would go ahead and order one (PCB) apparently not a Kit as described Farnell responded with this 2114623 is no longer available, please remove this product from your basket to continue. Re: Raspberry Pi controlling my RepRap (Tutorial)

Many thanks for you post, V interesting & heartening I have been discussing with a developer and tinkering away in the background with a view to getting a hacked (butchered) front end of EMC2 doing the sameish thing with an Arduino - Atmel chip - Gertboard See http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt...

Overall V impressed. Many thanks for the good work. I do have a prob with password required progs. Eg synaptic A password is required, but not accepted. Tried http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Some_programs_refuse_to_accept_my_password but this did not solve the problem (worked OK in orig Squee...

Re: EMC2 RPi Hybrid hack?

Good idea, go ahead and do it! You may not be the one that successfully does it but you should at least try otherwise you should not be taking about it! Well. I believe that discussing an idea - proposition (talking about it) is usually a good place to start, hence posting it in Community/ General ...

EMC2 RPi Hybrid hack?

Hope this proposition has not been covered elsewhere... I am to a degree rather rusty and rather out of my depth as I have not done much tinkering since 6502/Z80 days Anyways, here goes. The Gertboard has provision for an Atmel '328 There is now a version of EMC2 for the AT328 Arduino See http://emc...

Also a vote from me for no IR filter, or an optional/removable one.
A fixed filter rules out many useful technical and educational possibilities.

Re: Gertboard

Oh, so it's not a "Kit" just a pcb. Or...??? TBD what it is? Shouldn't have been listed by Farnell if what it is ??? and can't be discussed. V disappointed. You can discuss it as much as you like - just don't expect anyone Foundation related to say anything at all! Not sure why you find this disapp...

Re: Gertboard

There is a Gertboard "Kit" listed on Farnell Element14.
See
http://uk.farnell.com/element14/gb11052 ... =gertboard

Any clue as to what's included in the "Kit"?
